We've done some great things with $4.40, HU, and Team Challenges in FCP's history.

I got an interesting idea I wanted to run by the board.

FCP Shootout Challenge.

3 players to a team.

9 total teams entered, 27 overal players.

Runs in heats:

Each team has a representive on each table.

Tournament starts, and each table runs like a sit and go.

Top 3 of each table earn team points, and move on to a final 9 man final table.

Points triple on the final table, point payout escalates from 9th to 1st (obv.)

I would think we'd need the Mods (Bob, DNA, etc) and Pokerstars to make this happen, because of the wacky nature of the tournaments.

Pros: officially sanctioned, we could lower the buy-in, possibly even hit the FCP vault for hats, shirts, and chipsets..

Cons: run like a SNG, so getting everyone together at the same time may be difficult (time zones, work schedules, etc.)

I know this would be twice the headache of using tourneys already on Pokerstars, but it'd be pretty unique and true FCP Civil War. Imagine being stuck on a final table with 5 left, and two members each of two rival teams stand in your way. You're short handed game is good, but can you overcome collusion team equity strategy?

Thoughts? This could really be a fun idea.

i like the idea. i think that it would work easier then you think as well cuz u could just make a private tourney as long as someone was willing to keep track of the pts.

I wish shootouts on PS were like this in general. maybe not top 3 but top 2 moving on is cool.

I love this idea. I think if possible, there should be different sized buyins. Maybe a couple smaller ones and a "Main Event" sort of thing where the buyins/prizes(chipsets, what?) increase each level. If the buyin were small enough we could have a very large turnout.

I agree totally, that's why I'd be interested in getting Bob and the FCP team involved in this. Instead of prop betting eleventy brazillion dollars against two dozen people you are essentially even money with, even something as small as a $5 buy-in I'd be down with, enough for team FCP to recoup costs, and to give out some of that "can't buy in stores" schwag to go along with minor bragging rights.

Thats what these are about, anyways. Right?

Pokerroom used to have team play which was basically what you described in the first table(s). One person from each team at each table, and the team earns points for place finished.

It was great fun.

I'll help out by holding money and distributing the prizes if that is needed.

Some comments in the thread talked about FCP making money on something like this and that isn't the case. We get no part of any of the rake generated at PokerStars. We're already giving a large number of prizes to the Negreanu Open tournaments so I can't promise that we can kick in prizes for something like this.

If this was to go it would have to be designed to use the Private Tournament feature at Poker Stars as they aren't going to create any "special" tournaments for something that involves so few people and so many tournaments.

I don't want to dampen any enthusiasm but just want to make sure that the expectations are realistic.

We could play $5 on the tournaments, obv have prop betting and such to the max. Stars would rake $0.50, but what about raking another $1 (not paid through stars, but transferred to Bob) for prizes. That way FCP doesn't have to put up the prizes (or at least the full amount). Would that be possible?
