could someone please explain these 2 concepts to me. Maybe give some examples, if possible.How are they applied to NL Holdem Tournaments?

expected value, or EV, is the long term value that is predicted by statistics of a play. e.g raising aces preflop is +EV, capping preflop with 27o is -EV.+EV is what we all strive for in our games.

value betting is just like it sounds. Betting for value. If you bet when you think you have the best hand, you are value betting. Also, there is equity...but that's another story.
