OK, am I the only one thinking this?I have played poker for almost 12 years now...I am what I would call a pre-rounders player (you know, the movie).I consider Rounders to be the launching point for todays poker craze (can't be the WPT as ESPN has been showing poker for years.Anyway....I think all the post Rounders era players has a total misconception of poker. They think poker is a "clean televised sport" like any other.Poker has always been a sleazy biz overall. These "newbies" don't seem to get it....and they are in awe of all the poker celebs and possible believe their idols or the game is not that clean afterall. Some recent examples...the posty about Howard L's background...a well known fact that he is not that sqeaky clean...and the sheeple just can't believe it....Post about players owning pieces of another...the sheeple just can't believe it's happening.Frankly, I don't care about players background, whether they own pieces of themselves etc. This has always been happening in poker and just becuase it's on tv now doesn't mean the sleaziness in the poker world will stop....you might consider some of it sleazy but in the pokerworld that is how things work...always have and always will probably (since I cannot think of how you can stop it).My post is about the fact that most people in the poker world is sleazy (or was), players own pieces of themselves...collusion is fairly common and it seems all the "post - Rounders" era players can't accept it...and it's becuase they know very little about the real poker worls other than the clean presentation of the poker world on WPT.Poker Newbies...please take a moment to think to think why players in the stands cheer for their guys...there are groups of the players owning pieces of another EVERYWHERE...heck, you can even make a case for why that is ok for their point of view...I mean if you make your living gambling (yes poker is gambling...and NL holdem tournaments is more of a gamble than normal) and you make your living playing tournaments you can understand why all this is going on.But please newbies...don't be starstruck, and speak your opininion out of ignorance...just because so and so is your fav player celeb.Take two hours and read about people's history on the internet...know the truth about the game....it's not what these newbies think....the old timers can you tell you...the game has a seedy underside (seedy from your clean point of view - but not nesc. seedy for the players point of view)....don't try and make poker what it isn't.Collusion, teamplay, shady player background has always been part of the game and it's not clean like you would like to think as is presented on TV.

I think most of the people you'd want for an audience to this thread probably don't even visit the strategy section. This should be posted in General Poker if anywhere, not here.

Yeah, this doesn't have much to do with strategy.

True, this isn't about strategy. From what I've seen, the serious players come to the strategy section to learn from one another. The section you want is the general section. This thread should be moved.

It seems to me like your whole post was basicly just to say you've played poker before rounders... You've mentioned that about 18 times in one post, congratulations. You also seem to enjoy pointing out that everyone who has been playing poker after rounders is a newbie, which I beleive is about 6 years ago, only half as long as you've been playing. You've condecended on people who havent been playing as long as you about 7-10 times, between calling people "newbies" or "sheeple"Your whole post was one ego boost for you, I hope it makes you happy to be so much grater than you. And why cant people be shocked when someone does something illegal, or immoral... Just because we know people are capable of some things, doesn't mean we cant be shocked when they do them. If one of my close friends got arrested for murder, I would still be shocked.Get over yourself, no one cares.
