gmanshade 0
I opened cardplayer today and one of the headlines is "Tony G takes down Moscow Millons Poker Tourney." I clicked on the link and in a very brief article (here's the link: http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-news/artic...-poker-tourney) we are told that Tony G won $205,000 and "immediately donated the...first prize to a local orphanage" in Moscow. Now, this got me thinking. The reason is as follows: Russia (like several Asian countries, including China and Japan) is an emerging poker market. There is an extreme disparity in the wealth of the population, but there are a considerable number of people with $$$ who have not yet been exposed to poker. For a player like Tony G--an ass, but a charasmatic, well known pro--to win the event brings a lot more publicity than to have an unknown winner. And, at the same time, while he's probably a good guy, donating $200,000 to an orphanage that is not even named seemed a little odd. And that reminded me. Several months ago Tony G made the final table of the Betfair Asian Poker Tour Tournament in Singapore, where he also won the event, and of the $451,700 first prize he donated half to an unknown charity (link here: http://www.pokerlistings.com/tony-g-wins-b...lf-of-winnings). I watched a youtube video of him winning the event at the time, and I the way he behaved was weird (not celebrating or happy at all but sedate and almost uninterested) which seemed to me odd compared to the WPT event in Paris. When you add to this the fact that he's been playing poker wearing a kimono as early as two years ago in an effort to become an international emmisary for poker, one has to wonder: is it possible that these events were in some way fixed to allow him to win, and then the money is just given to charity but you have a recognizable pro taking down the prize? am I crazy?cliff notes version: Is it possible two live events in Moscow and Singapore were in some way fixed to make Tony g the winner??????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????????????????call me crazy, but I think it's more than 50/50 that I'm right. Pot Odds RAC 23
Wha?Do you have any idea what "Logical Thinking" is?You're going to reach a conclusion to accuse not one, but TWO different major Poker Events in two different countries being fixed because the winner donated $ to charity? You've outdone yourself in stupidity - and that is no easy task. You should have stayed away. gmanshade 0
people are really naive. If the world series of baseball can be fixed, how could a poker tournament not be fixed? are you crazy? also, tony g is not like barry greenstein with tens of millions of dollars. how could anyone NOT be suspicious when he wins back to back events like this and then gives ~$500,000 to unknown local orphanges?? Pot Odds RAC 23
listen, it has already come out the an online site (absolute) fixed a tourney so that someone won; why couldn't an online site fix a live tourney? There are so many stupid problems with this single post, I hardly know where o begin.Do you actually understand what happened with the AP Scandal and how the cheater did what he did? Have you actually played Live Poker? An On line Site, didn't FIX a Tourney so someone won. What does an On-Line Site have to do with a Live Tourney, much less two of them? Is the easiest way for them to acheive their evil world domination objectives to find a way to fix TWO live tourneys so the same player wins them both and dontaes his winnings to charity so that the developing Poker World will be more favorable to Poker?I'm not saying it is impossible to fix a tourney - I'm saying your Logic sucks. You were already voted off this island.
