Villain: OK, how about 45/45 and 10%?
Hero: Definitely not. I'd consider 55% me 35% you and we play for the remaining 10%
Villain: No way, I have more chips....
Hero: How about this. 15% goes to me- off the top... 20% to the winner and we split the rest 50/50.

$312.38 to winner
$1770.12 split 50/50
$885.06 each guaranteed.
So, with 40% of the chips when H/U began, hero was already paid $1252.56, or more than half the mobnies, playing for an extra $312.38 as gravy.
(My math could be off- someone check it)
