I made this hand up, sorta. Both players are very good poker players.

Hero ($12 million)
MP ($more)
LP ($no idea)

Preflop: Hero is EP with ah.gif , kh.gif .
I have no idea.

Flop: ($a little bit) jh.gif , kd.gif , ac.gif (3 players)
They didn't show this part in the movie.

Turn: ($little bit more) ks.gif (3 players)
This either.

River: ($and more still) jc.gif (3 players)
Hero bets $500,000, MP raises to $1,000,000, LP folds, Hero raises to $2,000,000, MP raises all-in.

Is this an instacall? Does a smart player make this shove with a worse hand than ours?

Is it an instacall if our winning this poker tournament decides whether or not our government directly finances terrorism by losing money to a guy who helps the terrorists out? Just wondering.

(Yes, I realized this is a retarded topic, and yes bbfidts, but humour me, plz)

I suck so I fold.

but seriously, yeah I think I would have to insta-call and puke when villain flips up JJ. I think that theory is right...I personally find it hard to get away from a full boat. Only once in my poker career (albeit short) have I lost to boat over boat/higher holding when I had a boat. The boat is magical icon_cool.gif

Instacall with plans to rebuy and hit the best cooler ever with a hand you should have folded preflop.

Yeah, lol. I was just thinking, like, would a good, thinking player shove here with anything besides AA or JJ? I mean, I think I'm being results oriented, but I have no idea.

2 remaining combos of K-J and 2 remaining combos of A-K vs 1 combo of J-J and 1 combo of A-A...

And they all take this line.

I kinda just out thought myself on this one.

I was thinking that He shouldn't shove here without AA or JJ, or with Kx because the only hands that could call are AK and Kx, but if I'm saying we're folding AK here, or another Kx, then clearly shoving with Kx is a good play if it folds a chop or better hand.

Basically, my head just exploded.

Actually, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the makers thought that when they gave him AK, they thought he had the 2nd nuts, and just forgot about AA. I love Hollywood.

Also, in Lucky You, isn't it funny when Eric Bana bets with a flush draw and Drew Barrymore says "One more heart and you've got a flush," and yet everyone folds. If any of the players didn't suck, wouldn't they shove ATC? I LOVE HOLLYWOOD.
"How do they put the ****ing queen in the window?"

Darvin Moon, I hope you die in a grease fire.

Best part of the movie was the seamless switching between LHE and NLHE while sitting at the same table and in the same hand even!

They were playing a limit game, I believe.

Edit: Or maybe not.

They were playing limit preflop and on the flop and then they'd spontaneously make large raises.

Also, I wanted to punch him each time he flicked his chips into the pot!

Sadly, the poker was the most believable part of the movie.

In a hand like this, it's important to check the room for cameras. If you find the camera man and a director, you can fold the second or third nuts with confidence.

I think it's a call. Villain can make this play with the case king. It would help a lot to see the other streets, though.
