Breaking News Sean Taylor Shot In Home Robbery

Recommended Posts

He died this morning.Sad news, RIP Sean Taylor, sorry Redskin dudes. That's just another loss of great talent from the league unnecessarily just like Darrent Williams of the Broncos. There is a reason Goodell is trying to clean up the NFL, because this stuff could be directly linked to his past behavior, which is sad.

Very sad day for Redskins fans and the NFL. Sean Taylor was a beloved son, father, teammate, and friend. He was never especially tight with the media, but he was undoubtedly one of the Redskin's most beloved teammates. He had an iron will and will be extremely missed by everyone inside and outside the organization. Just 23 years of age, it's hard to believe he will no longer be with us.RIP Sean Taylor

When Sean Taylor was at Univ. of Miami I thought I was watching the next Ronnie Lott. He had it all. Incredible speed to go with being 6' 3", found the ball like a hawk and delivered game changing hits. He had a real wild streak, but by all accounts having a baby had made him finally grow up. This guy could have been the best to ever play the safety position. This is incredibly sad.

This is very sad news. The two guys from PTI, who both write for the Washington Post, talked about how Sean Taylor was trying to distance himself from what happened in his past. I hope the person(s) who are responsible for this are brought to justice.

Yeah it seems like lately there has been a high number of robberies that target pro athletes, mainly the NBA. It would make me think twice about wearing something that costs 250K around my neck. I don't know if that's what they were after but I hope they are caught.Do any of the Miami guys know if anyone was ever arrested for the Pata killing? Rough year for the U

I posted this in off topic general but thought I would post here too.Being a diehard Redskin fan my whole life, this is truly the saddest day ever for me in terms of sports. I feel like I lost a friend or family member. This whole community in northern VA lives and dies with the Redskins and it is seriously feels like being down in the morgue. Everyone is saddened and shocked by what happened. The team is already struggling enough, but now having to deal with this? Might be close to impossible because the team lost arguably its best player, best teammate, and best friend. Yeah I know he had a shady past but he had really started to turn a new leaf. I'm sure what happened is in direct relation to his past, or even the people whom he currently associated himself with. All I know is that it's no coincidence that his house was broken into twice within 8 days, and the 2nd time he winds up dead. This was no robbery or burglary...it was a hit. I feel so sad for his girlfriend and young daughter Jackie.Only diehard fans truly understand the emotional connections we make to our players, especially star players. Yes it might seem a little obsessive to the outsider, but you have to be a true fan to feel this connection. I mean, we live and die by how our team does week to week, and frankly, players like him helped shape how our lives play out 16 weeks out of the year. It's really sad, and I'm going to miss #21 being on my TV on Sundays. I have both his jerseys (#36 from rookie year and current #21) and will still wear them proud on Sundays. He was one helluva football player. The best to his family, friends, and the team.

Very, very sad news. Even as a Cowboys fan I loved watching this guy play, he was a great competitor and athlete. RIP Sean Taylor
Even the Dallas message forum (cowboyszone) changed their colors to burgundy and gold today. Very touching. Nothing but love for the 'Skins and Sean Taylor coming from over there too. It's awesome.

I am glad to hear the compassion of fellow Dallas fans for our biggest rival. Do you mind if I sport your sig in Taylor's memory?

I'm a die hard Cowboys fan as well, and although I never liked the guy's personality, I did envy his talent everytime he was on the field. I always did and continue to wish Roy Williams would play like Taylor played, even if just occasionally. It's truly a tradgey that we never got to see Taylor come into his own completely and show what he was really made of at the safety spot. Like I said, I didn't like the man, but seeing this happen helps me to remember that you could be rooting for someone, your fan favorite, and a few days later, he could be gone forever. Life is just so fragile that this is really wearing on me despite it even happening to the biggest rival my team faces.

I'd be happy if you would do that.

So sad and so sick. CBass, I agree this was no robbery, but I find it hard to believe it was a hit. A hitman won't shoot a guy in the leg and leave him there. If anything, I think someone was trying to send a message and accidentally hit the artery. Either way, I hope they find the person/persons and don't give them a chance to go to trial.

I also decided to change to your sig cbass, and I pretty much feel the same way you do about the Skins and Sean Taylor. I just hope this case doesn't take too long to solve. The killer(s) involved should be brought to justice so his teammates, friends, and family can have some semblance of closure. This was definitely not a random burglary, the phone lines to Sean's house were cut before the suspect went in. I also heard on espn that during the breakin to the house that occurred the previous week, a knife was left on his bedroom pillow. It seems like someone had a personal vendetta against Sean and was directly targeting him.

I read a post on the extremeskins message board from a guy who says he goes to law school in Miami. He said one of his friends is close with Sean's inner circle. They said they know exactly who did it but it's not a matter they could take to the police. I don't know how true any of that is but it wouldn't surprise me if the killer ends up dead before the cops get him. I'd be ok with that. However, Florida does have the death penalty so that is good too. Eye for an eye...

very sad story indeed, thoughts and prayers with the Taylor family and the Redskins..........One thing I find hard to believe is that he didn't have any kind of security system, bodyguard, dogs, etc in place if he knew he had someone wanting to make a hit on him. Especially if he had his wife and kid in the house, which I'm not sure if they were or not. rip
