Reads and History: Villian has only been playing poker for several months. He wears alot of jewelry and Fubu type clothing. Villian likes to demonstrate a LAG style of play by making huge raises PF ($30 plus) with rags to take down the blinds (then shows his hand), then makes standard raises PF later on with good cards to get action. He likes to buy in to the table with alot of $1 dollar chips and use those with his large bets. On past occasions while as an observer to Villian's table, Hero has observed Villian make large raises on the river heads up (on a low uncordinated board, and a cordinated board with an overpair on it) and has not gotton action. Villian has made large bluffs in the past. Hero and Villian have a history as Hero stacked Villian a week earlier as Villian had top pair and moved all in ($100 or so) after the flop while Hero had two pair.My image: I've been playing with Villian for 45 minutes and have been making alot of money. I've been somewhat LAG Preflop as i've been raising my pairs and A suited's.Effective stacks: Hero- $800 Villian $400My cards are JJ.Preflop: UTG folds, Hero raises to $10, everyone folds, Villian in SB calls $10. Flop: Qs, 9h, 2cVillian leads $10, Hero raises to $20, Villian calls $10.Turn: Ac Villian Bets $10, Hero calls $10.River: 5h Villian waits 5 seconds and moves a stack of $100 forward. Villian is looking at the board and is not talking.

For God's sake, raise to $30 or $40 on the flop. I'm gonna bitchslap the next person who minraises with some weakish hand when they should've put in a real raise.Unless you actually have a read for what he's doing, you should consider folding the turn. I raise to $30 on the flop, fold turn.You don't have him beat nearly often enough to make this call, he almost never has nothing. Think about it from his perspective: Would you ever try the kind of bluff (missed draw) jacks could beat on a board with this many high pairs possible?

100% agree.You have to have a solid read to call this, and it doesn't sound like you do.I would also be more inclined to call this if you didn't have two blockers to the most obvious draw (JT).

the min-raise is my weapon of choice against another forum member...I honestly do it just to piss him off/make him tilt. it's fun, weeeeeeeeeeeee!

I wanted to post results of this hand not as a brag or anything, but to get a better idea of %'s, hand ranges, etc, that i need to be thinking about when i make calls like this.I called and villian showed J,10. I can't really explain what specific hand ranges (other than a straight draw of some sort) i thought Villian had on this flop, i guess I called mostly because of my observance of villian in the past at other tables with his funky river bet, and probe style betting on the flop and turn. This was probably the best call I've made in my brief "live" playing era so far, but afterwards i thought about it and i thought that there were just too many hands that still could have beaten me (Qxcc ......A6, A10, etc) for me to make this call +EV in the long run. Does this post make any sense?

I call the river almost all the time. The villain wants to play cheaply. When turbo-lags suddenly start making smallish bets, it's because their loathe to give up control of the pot, and think they can simply see a river then make a huge bet and win. Good call.
