My Trying Chris Ferguson's Challenge.

Recommended Posts

What's up everybody? I know I'm not as experienced as most of you FCPer's but I decided to do take on Chris Ferguson's Challenge from 0 to 10,000. Except I want to do what a lot of people want him to do, strive for 1,000,000. I know it sounds crazy, but i think it can be done. Obviously its not going to be easy, but it's sure going to be fun to try. And the best thing about it is that I cannot lose any $ from it.A blog is the best way to keep myself in check and reflect on my play. I started the blog slightly after doing the challenge, so I bent the rules a bit in the beginning, but I'm going to strictly adhere to the rules from now on. I have made it $262.05 in about 1 month. So, I hope to have some feedback from you guys and hope you guys will come take a look at my blog. Link to it is on my Sig.Thanks. Brian

nobody will ever make $1,000,000 playing internet poker. eventually the house will win.
LOLjust like that model, where if you put 20$ on and play 20$ pots nonstop, internet pokre wins

GL,A bit of advice, aim for 1k. then for 10k. Its going to take time just to reach 10k, and its going to involve ups and downs and you'll be more focused to work at getting 10k than you ever will be for reaching 1million.Its like 1 player in a million who can climb level after level without skipping a beat. Most winning fulltime players have lost a ton here or there at a higher limit and its part of the experience needed to mentally prep yourself for when you lose or win those figures regularily.so i'd stick with the goal to 10k first. It will help u reach it sooner.

Well, I know the 1 million target is way up there, that target is just the ultimate goal. I do have smaller-mini goals to obtain. Like my first real goal is getting to $625 dollars. I have never had the patience to play 10K+ hands at these micro-limits. I have to learn this dedication and patience.I always went for the big tournies and never had any BR management skills. What do you guys think is a good number of buyins to lose at a new level before you move back down?

I'd suggest not doing the Chris Ferguson "bullshit" rule where he sits down with 5% of his bankroll, waits to double up, then leaves. He basically does a hit and run every time he sits down at a cash game table and I wouldn't recommend doing it, because it's not good etiquette.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it from an etiquette standpoint, especially not on the internet. Ferguson's strength is playing short, so he does that. I suspect that's because a game theory analysis is easiest to do when playing shallow.

It's sounds naive or sarcastic more than crazy. It's rather like not having a goal at all, and instead trying to win a lot of money.

But he does it then moves to another same-limit table so he can buy in for the minimum again. In my opinion if you wouldn't do it in a B&M, it's bad etiquette to do it online too.I understand why he does it, as in he doesn't want too much of his BR on the table, but tough shit, thats cash game poker. If you go on a rush and more than double up you wouldn't take money off the table, which is essentially what he does.

I don't think it's bad etiquette in B&M, either. If my leaving is going to break the game, then I can see staying so that my friends can keep playing. If there's lots of action, I think it's entirely his business. If most people want to play a deep game, then the house should increase the minimum buy-in.

One tip:Follow the bonus trail, once you've made $200 on PS, deposit it onto carbon poker and play till you clear your 200% deposit bonus, then take the money you've got and deposit $600 onto fulltilt and play enough hands to clear their $600 100% deposit bonus.www.beatnolimit.comYou can make around $1400 in free money if you do it right.
