He phoned 911 and while the operator told him to stay in his house while he insisted on going next door to shoot them. The operator told him not to 19 times but when the burglars started to leave the neighbours house he went outside and blew them away promptly. I believe if you are in immediate danger you should be able to defend yourself. But when you are not and you interject yourslef in a situation just so you can shoot people its homicide. The only thing he has going for him is his state of residence, if he lived in NY he'd already be in jail for manslaughter. You're only "safe" shooting an intruder if he's actually inside your home, every gunowner in the country knows the unwritten rule of dragging the perp back into the house before calling the police if he happens to fall outside on your porch. I was just citing the common example for demonstrating where the line for justifiable homicide usually lies.
