Wow did anyone see that story about that guy in Texas who shot 2 burglars who broke into a neighbours house. He phoned 911 and while the operator told him to stay in his house while he insisted on going next door to shoot them. The operator told him not to 19 times but when the burglars started to leave the neighbours house he went outside and blew them away promptly. I believe if you are in immediate danger you should be able to defend yourself. But when you are not and you interject yourslef in a situation just so you can shoot people its homicide. He hasnt been charged with a crime as of yet.Judge for yourself:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6xBVkKqDzI

What a dumbass. The only thing he has going for him is his state of residence, if he lived in NY he'd already be in jail for manslaughter. You're only "safe" shooting an intruder if he's actually inside your home, every gunowner in the country knows the unwritten rule of dragging the perp back into the house before calling the police if he happens to fall outside on your porch.

No, that isn't an "unwritten rule"; it's a really, really bad myth.Everyone has an 'uncle who's a cop' that tells them that, but if you do it, you're ****ing yourself in the grandest possible fashion and setting yourself up to be prosecuted for a homicide that might have otherwise fallen under the purview of self defense, but now that you tried to 'cover things up', it very well may create the illusion that an unlawful murder occured... and there are circumstances where you can shoot intruders that aren't in your home under the laws of most every state. Also, the guy in that youtube was a totally ignorant, bravado driven retard."Here it goes buddy, here the shotgun clickin? I'm goin...."I ****ing hate the "Texan" type. While I absolutely support what he did- like, 100%- he'll probably be indicted. IIRC, Texas is one of the few states that DOES permit lethal force in defense of property, but I'm pretty sure it has to be your own property.

I'm not a complete and total idiot Scram, I know you're not actually supposed to drag the guy back into the house. I was just citing the common example for demonstrating where the line for justifiable homicide usually lies. It's the same as saying "wait until he crawls all the way through the window before you dump a load of buckshot into his head".
