i'm fairly new to poker...online or otherwise. i've read alot of books on the subject and what have you, but i really only have about 50 hours under my belt. i was wanting some advice on a game i played tonight. from what i've read, when you're in a loose game you should loosen up your starting hands and call with more marginal hands post flop. well tonight's game was so loose (there was a maniac that literaly bet or raised anytime the action was to him) that i went against that logic and played ridiculously tight....like i wouldn't start without wired 10's or better or A Q or better split. and i almost never raised bc i new that the maniac would bet my hand for me. i had some swings, but after 2 hours i was up 420 chips in a 10/20 fixed play money game.so i ask, is this how it should be played in a game like that? or should i stick to normal loose game stratigy and raise with the top hands and just call with alot more hands than i did tonight?

I agree. It's just like going to the gym for the first time. There was a real good thread on this a while back. Do a search. You should def tighten up, but the thread a while back gets further in depth.
