September Results:My return to poker has been a good one so far. Starting BR was about $30, I'm now sitting at $280. My SnG results for Sept have been great, I haven't checked the numbers yet but the majority of my winnings has come from SnG's.Oct Goals:Continue to play mostly SnG's, play some cash games and throw in the odd MTT. Monetary goal: I'd like to get up to $500 by the end of the month.Good luck everyone.
Wow, nice work. What games/how many did you play to make that much?

do you play the 45 man SNG's or just the 9 man SNG's?
For now just the 9 man SNGs. I was playing the 18 man turbos and was banking on those for awhile, but for now ill just play the 9 mans. Why r the 45 mans super soft?

Thanks, Sheiky.I played 66 SnG's, mostly $5, 18 seat on stars, with a few $10, 18 seat thrown in there as well. I played a couple 27 seat of $5/$10 too. I checked my results last night in Poker Office, ROI was 36% for the $5 and 75% for the $10. If I continue to do well I will move up to the $10 SnG's and play those primarily. I like to have at least 50 buy-ins for the SnG levels I'm playing, preferrably much more, as much as 100. I was under-rolled for the $5 when I started this recovery, but $5 are the lowest I'll play. I find grinding lower than $5 to be too much effort for the gain and I know my past results for the $5 are good.

Hey if you guys don't mind my jumping into strat, I think it would help if I set some goals for myself to strive for.Still working on what they will be, but I have a few ideas. This is going to be a rebuilding month for me as I took everything off of Full Tilt to have some spending money for the rest of the semester.Get PokerTracker.Get September's rakeback in (~80) and turn it into ~150.Work on sng's and try to get a decent ITM/Win% playing at least one a day.Spend more time in the strat forums and work on improving my game overall.

October Goals
  • Stay competitive on the P5's AL leaderboard despite limited playing time.
September Goals/Results
  • Remember how to win.Check. After starting somewhat poorly, I've regained a lot of confidence in the past few weeks...some in cash games and a lot in big buy-in tournaments. As a result, I had my best month ever.

I am never EVER playing another $11 NLHE SNG on Stars again. The nits are driving me up a wall. I just played 4 of them and in each one there were 7 players left with the blinds at 100/200!!!!I'm thinking of switching to the $16 PLO/PLO8 1-table Turbos. Anyone have any experience in these? I've never played any Omaha turbos at Stars. Will they make me wanna pull my hair out?

Nothing tilts me more than 4 tables of shlhe. I am only allowing myself 2 tables of shlhe and then 2 tables of nlhe. Had such a swingy day yesterday that was completely tilt induced. Fortunately so many people suck at heads up and I was able to make back some of my losses.

one thing I have found helps (and you might already know this) when the blinds get big, lets say 300/600 I often raise to 1400 instead of the full 1800 and bet small amounts, and betting like 1/4 - 1/2 of the pot size on the C-bet. Most of the times it is just as effective as if you were betting 3x and full pot size bets, and when you are wrong you save a lot of chips.

September results: I don't even really wanna talk about it :club:. I played a TON and did come out ahead, but not by very much. If I had to estimate I would say that I earned between 1k and 2k, far less than I had hoped, and many MANY times I came close to a big tourney score and just missed. Anyways my goals for October are to get back into sngs (I started playing them again this week, and remembered why I loved them so much in July), and to get good at cash games, under the tutelage of one Mr. Checkymcfold.
Karl: She was a bit -- what's the word that you can use, cuz I don't wanna offend anyone?
Steve: Was she a homeless person?
Karl: Yeah but sort of mental homeless.

It takes practice and the right table composition, but like NN said, reducing your bets sizes may help a little. Unless there are really unusual circumstances, I'm pretty consistently 2.5xORing in tournaments from any position before the Hijack.
