What're you doing? What's the forced laugh supposed to imply? Awkwardness? If so, you nailed, buddy.

I'll admit to not doing any research or not delving in to the context, so maybe I'm missing something.
What was he going for there, or was he talking about a different person than Nelson... or...?

Well I should hope not.
All the more reason he shouldn't proclaim that, well, "Mandela is dead."

to me it seemed like he was saying that saddam had killed all the people that stood up to him, as in he killed all the mandela-like figures that were in iraq.

I actually thought it was one of his better attempts at putting together a reasonable metaphor.

It's actually not, but I understand why someone like you would think that it is.

I've been thinking a lot recently, because I was recently asked to name my five favorite phrases. After careful consideration, I'm not much closer to having a full list than I was a few days ago, but I do have it partly filled out:
5) (TBD)
4) (TBD)
3) (TBD)
2) Fuck off.
1) Shut the fuck up.
Both phrases are so versatile that I manage to use them 5+ times apiece daily. The worst is when I let fly with a good natured, "Ah **** oooooffffff," except it's terrible because I'm talking to the clerk at the supermarket or my econ professor.
