so is this a court thing or a "i gotta change the way i'm livin" thing?give me some backstory here.
the later.i have a small heroin habit that i've been trying to get rid of for a while. i just can't make that last little step no matter how much i cut down and how close i get. talking to people who have been in the same boat they tell me that its next to impossible to kick opiate addiction without medical help no matter how bad you want to or how much will power you think you have. so im gonna give this a shot see how it goes.

yeah from everything i've read about opiates, they seem like the hardest to kick, especially if you're on the spike. hopefully with medical assistance you can get off that shiz. how long you been doin it?

well good luck man, i really hope you can make it.what made you decide you needed to quit and you needed help to do so? I mean, to borrow from the movie Clean & Sober, what was your moment of clarity type situation if you had one?

I was listening to Dr. Drew about a week ago and he said that there is no such thing as a recovered Heroin addict. Whether it's Methadone or anything else prescribed you'll most likely be on some kind of drug (legal or not) for the rest of your life. Good luck, pussy.
lots of people that i know serve as empirical evidence to show otherwise. i do imagine that if you were sticking two grams a day into your arm for several years there might be some truth in that though. thanks, pussy.

This made a lot of sense to me.Since you seem to have 10 minutes, go ahead and read it. good luck sir
damn it, I went all the way to the end and nothing popped out. what a gip.oh, and antistuff, you're pretty cool. we've never had a real life heroin addict on the forums that I know of. plenty of coke heads and a bunch of lazy stoners, but no true to the earth smack fiends. you're in a league of your own. but yeah, you should probably stop. loser. but seriously, I have a friend who was actually on it pretty bad too, sounds like a very similar situation too. just kinda started trying it and ended up addicted, sniffing it too (I think this is becoming very popular). anyways, he's off it now (at least as far as anybody knows) so apparently there's hope. I think he got off it because he just had a kid and it finally made something snap. I'd also recommend that you be careful with the methadone too, as I know several people that are just as hooked on that as they would be if it were heroin. use it to quite everything, not as just another drug to replace the original.

i feel kind of bored and anxious waiting around to go. so talk to me. ask me about it. wish me luck. say something mean.
Well, why is it exactly you're quitting? Is it not enjoyable anymore? It seems to me that you're somewhat functional, and trust me as someone who's back off the wagon(pills): your life is almost unliveably boring, sober. Don't quit just because society makes you think you should, or because everyone on TV has to.

The best man at my wedding was a heroin addict for about 10 years. We met in recovery. He had one bad relapse, while we were living together, but is clean now for about 10 years. One thing for sure. Don't fool yourself into thinking you can still have a little taste of other things. You really will need to quit all drugs/drinking.I quit everything, been clean for 26 + years. I do not know of a single person that has quit drugs, but can still drink. There may be some, but I don't know any. and I spent 6 years in AA/NA, etc. Also keep a good support group around you for the first year. People that also don't drink, and will help you stay accountable. You will not make it if you hang out with your old running partners.I could not be happier with my decision to not drink anymore. I wish you the best.

I had a small meth habit that I couldn't kick in college, too.I had to move out of the town I was going to college in, and move back home. One day at a time, and all that. Please be sure to post here when you complete your program, or just to check in.Good luck. Not many people get to step one. You've made the hardest decision.
