BobVersion1 0
With working full time, going back to school is hard right now. I'm 27 and want to get my associates and then Bachelors degree in Broadcasting communication. I'm thinking of doing University of Phoenix online classes...has anyone every used them and if so, what's your experiences?
Spademan 94
I struggle not to laugh at my friend who attends, but a degree from there may get your foot in the door some places.
hank213 1,824
I've heard that they're building a decent rep, but they're not quite there yet. Have you looked for a B&M school that may have that program online? A lot of institutions are rolling out some online programs.
Pot Odds RAC 23
I have a friend who went to the B&M version of UofP. I told him he didn't need to move to Phoenix to get an on-line degree, that is sort of the point.Bottom line is a degree's perceived "worth" how hard it is to earn. Get an "easier" degree and it is going to have a lower "value".

I've recently started to consider getting a higher/different degree and would also like some details.

However it is a time consuming process and a bit harder than traditional class because it is more on the student to pickup the material since you don't always have a live professor there. After seeing her do this I am considering getting an MBA through Regis University myself. As for info on the schools you would probably be best served to check out the school's website and see what they have to offer. I know if there is a residency requirement it will be stated on the site.
SBriand 4
i have decided this semester to take my Business Law class online. It looks pretty crazy to be honest. Talking to some other students in the class they say that it's seems harder than going to a regular class. It's supposedly easy to let things go an fall behind from time to time. Should be interesting.
scram 1
Here's the answer to that question.1) A degree from University of Phoenix will only open the lowest level opportunities requiring college (hourly retail manager, etc). Everywhere else, the HR person will just LOL and put your resume straight into the shredder2) A University of Phoenix degree is a cop-out in a lot of ways and might actually weigh against you in situations where people are assessing your abilities. Some people will view it as a minimal effort to better yourself, others (like myself) would view it as an attempt to obtain a college degree without actually having to put in any real effort or sacrifice. 3) Since we mistakenly decided that all people are "equal" and entitled to college education even if they are morons who really shouldn't be there, college ceased being an institution that weeded out inferior minds and started being a vocational system that really doesn't address how bright someone is. As such, employers know that the mere presence of a college degree doesn't mean much for positions of any importance. Obtaining the lowest, cheapest, least exclusive back-of-a-matchbook degree really isn't going to open any opportunities that wouldn't already be available to someone without a degree but with a modicum of work experience.4) Here's the founder, Herr SPERLING You think a SPERLING really has your best interests in mind?University of Phoenix is educational snakeoil being peddled by those who can most often be found selling such things. I also didn't think about the residency thing either. also, SBriand brought up a good point about being able to stick to it. that would be much harder when you don't have someone to answer to in person every other day. it would take a lot of discipline. and as far as scram's comments, I'm wondering if the well known school's online programs are specifically mentioned so on the degree? if not, then they would be just as credible as their regular degrees. if they do, then I'm sure they hold a lot more "worth" than just plain university of phoenix. and scram really hates the jews, don't he? You will be fine.

You will be fine.well shit, if thats true for all of them, then this sounds like a really good way to get additional education, assuming you have the drive to actually do it and not just buy the books and wing the tests (which is probably what I'd do). really all a diploma is, is a name. get the employer to recognize the name and thats your in. I don't want to go, get easy As and have it be worth nada..What do you want to do with a broadcast communications degree? yeffy 0
This girl i used to hook up with was a professor for UoP. I used to make fun of her for it but she really took it seriously and spent a lot of time with her students. She taught creative writing and spent hours giving feedback to every student and was kind of tough with the grades. I did go down on her while she was doing an IM session with 4 students So you never really know what your prof is doing during class.
