Ive been watching the reruns on ESPN and i was saddened to See Daniel Negreanu bust out like he did at the WSOP 2007. He was playing so well and legitimately looking like one of the best players alive, and then got busted with one play at the wrong time. Thats the only time ive seen someone bust out and been like "man that sucks."Jamie Gold on the other hand. Why was he on a feature table? Watching him play was just annoying and agony. And watching him get upset with with his family afterward made me just think wtf mate. The whole time watching him play, i could just tell that he had no vision for the tournament at all. He really didn't have any confidence, you could see right through him....And his hair looked stupid. :club: I don't know, it was just weird watching him play. And you could tell from the beginning that his stack was going to peter out pretty quick.

Its been awhile since i've graced this forum, but after watching the latest main event episode, I felt the need to comment. Is it just me or was that Morris guy a plain unadulterated ahole. The poker dealer that raided Daniels chipstack twice with flushes. I don't know if DN and him know each other or not, but it really seemed to me like the guy succeeded in getting under DN's skin. He displayed the same demeanor you expect to find in most of the 18something hotshots on the internet. Since I didn't read results or find out who actually cashed or won in the tournament, as i wanted to watch it unfold on ESPN, I'm wondering if that clown act even cashed. I realize that due to editing its impossible to see an accurate flow of each hand and what effect it had on each player, but, it seemed to me like DN had plenty of steam and was going to go deep. As soon as Morris clipped DN with K9h to DN's AA, DN started to flounder and not be as sharp. DN, if you were a little rattled by that guy...you really handled it like a pro. I would have had a real tough time containing the verbal tongue lashing that guy needed. Congrats on the Prop Bet win! If DN still reads this forum and happens across this, do people in tournaments talk to you alot the way that guy did? I just wondered if there was alot of "there is a camera on me so I gotta take this opportunity to show how cool I am". It really put Morris in a bad light as far as I'm concerned, and I'm sorry you couldn't maintain the head of steam you had going, to go deep.Lata!

From the internet posts that I read while the WSOP was going on it seems that ESPN DID edit out a bunch of Kyle Morris and DN. Apparently he was being an absolute dick to him and trying to ham it up cause the T.V. cameras were on him. I think they edited out some of the real bad stuff like Morris telling Daniel to "do something...Call fold...just do something." As if DN is hollywooding or something....

Yeah its a shame they gave that guy any airtime at all, he really was an embarrasment. From what I saw, DN didn't really react to him, but i dunno what they cut out either. Just wondered if the guy did rattle him a bit.

Another instance in which Iwanted to reachthrough my screen and punch a douche bag poker player in the face. Why cant people just act like people because a camera is on them? Its like, "Trust me buddy, the camera is not there for you. You just happen to be sitting next to one of the most famous poker players on Earth. So sit there and STFU.'HAHAHAHAOn a lighter note, Scotty's prowess just grows stronger by getting most of his table to order champagne then tipping the cocktail waiteress a beaner. Got to love that guy, baby.

Jamie Gold was on the featured table because he was the defending champion, and the way he played is the way he always plays. The problem with Gold is that he plays his big stack game regardless of his stack, so it doesn't work a great deal. That, plus the fact that he's actually a really bad player.

I don't see it this way at all. Whatever that dealers name was, he wasn't being anymore abrasive than DN was.. why is it a bad thing that he attempt to get under DN's skin? I thought he did a good job not melting down just because a name pro was sitting at the table. Some of you make it seem as if there must be some sort of bow down attitude if you are sitting next to DN. No. Not if you want to win. As far as hamming it up for the cameras...o.k., let's be reasonable. DN hammed it up from the moment he sat down, and there is nothing wrong with that, it was good fun T.V.

Yeah but... DN is a ham, he's always like that no matter what he's doing and good-spirited about it. That guy, it seemed, was doing that solely for the cameras. You could argue that that is the way he is, but my response to that than is that I guess he's just a jerk. Either way, he's wrong. Now I totally agree that my opinion, and many others', are skewed due to Daniel's popularity, but still there is some level of respect that goes along with being a widely respected, "name" pro. And your point of "Do what you do to win" is fine, Its just that my position is that if it were me, I would do what it takes to win without acting like a jerk to one of the most famous players around.

All I gotta say is DN is a f**king monster. I am sure it was edited for time, but instantly calling the hands his opponants were on was amazing. And for the doucheclown? When he is in the top 3 tourney money winners of all time, has 3 bracelets, multiple WPT wins, POTY awards for both the WSOP and WPT, a hot wife, loving family, tons of fans, an endorsement deal, 2 or 3 books written, and a strong faith in God to fall back on if it all goes away...well...then maybe he should speak. Have a little class. It's not like he knows DN personally. Mike Matusow can needle DN. Doyle Brunson could(if he chose to) needle DN. You, me and that clown shouldn't.My 2 pence.

What I saw was this, Daniel entertaining. He opened by asking if anyone watched Rocky. Later he sang part of Eye of the Tiger and got the whole table to join in. DN was being an ambassador to poker and having a good time. Kyle Morris, from the moment he sat, was being a ambasshole for poker. You don't have to be an absolute disrespectful douchebag in order to rattle poker players. Maybe DN provoked the behavior from this guy and I didn't see it because of the editing. I highly doubt this is true though. This guy just wanted to prove how superior he was to DN on tv. After some research I've seen that he did cash in the ME, in like 500th or something. A few other cashes in other events. Nothing impressive though. If his strategy is to piss off poker pro's at tournaments, rather than letting his play do the talking, its a poor one. If what KM was saying to DN was humorous or light hearted then you would have a case, it wasn't, he was just being a 100% pure ahole. The caliber of player you expect to find in low stakes donkey derbies.and yah if there is a rapport between two players and they needle each other, totally understandable. You actually have to earn someones respect at the table, however, before you pull off this guys act and retain a shred of respect from the viewing audience. I'm pretty sure KM hadn't established a rapport with DN prior and demonstrated to the poker watching nation, "look at me! i'm an arrogant prick". I go out of my way to take this kind of player out early in tournaments. Personally if I ever sat at a table with any big name, i'd wanna establish a friendly rapport and fly under the radar and let the play speak all the words. I think of it as counter-productive to draw attention to myself especially if I'm badly beat in the skill department. KM is what i refer to as a flush monkey, calling any raise with any 2 suited, he just got real fortunate. He's still wins the Golden Douche of 2007 in my book.

How weird. When I watched it I told my wife how I thought the guy was doing a good job getting under DN's skin. It never crossed my mind that him trying to win was a bad thing. A little disrespect in a competetive situation is damn near required in this game.

"I go out of my way to take out this kind of player early"...... don't you see how that if this statement is true the guy was doing exactly what he should be doing if he played against someone like you? From the hands that I saw, the guy played well. He called with some draws, yeah, but it wasn't like DN worked to hard to price anybody out... his raises are designed many times to price you in. I don't remember who called the all in when the guy rivered that flush but he had more than enough outs to be there. DN just wrote a column about that. Draw vs. Monster draw, and when it makes sense to play that type of hand. Anybody else wonder why DN has never said anything about this guy? Why would he? He was player that did his job for that day, game over. DN is not going to waste space worrying about everybody that guns for him at a table, and neither should we.

You quoted me as saying i take them out early.....I don't mean i let them get to me, their attitude makes them easily susceptible to trapping. You can sugarcoat it all you want by saying its part of the game, maybe you play poker with alot of douchebags, i dunno. Saying that its a bad thing that he wanted to win is just ridiculous. His words had nothing to do with an overall strategy. If he was needling everyone AT the table, once again...you'd have a case. You forget he was playing against other people. You are right however, DN probably payed it no mind, in fact he's probably used to it. My only point is this, is it so hard for people to conduct theirselves with a little class? I don't suggest losing all the aholes from poker, as this would impact my milk runs heavily. It was just a case of my opinion being Kyle needs to learn how to shut his cakehole. I totally understand your point though Lois if you play alot of poker with classless, juvenile, egotists. So there really is no need for another response.

As far as DN mentioning it, maybe it played out entirely different from the way it was televised. Maybe DN provoked KM somehow and it was just return fire. Who knows? In the end it came across as DN ultimately being the better man. Also, when DN busted out, KM had another sarcastic remark. At that point the game was over for DN there was no need to continue being a prick. Tell em good game and be respectful. In conclusion, none of your defenses for this guy hold water.

Your problem with the guy is basically that he didn't show respect on T.V and that he was to aggressive trying to get under DN's skin, and I don't agree. I doubt Daniel would either.. remember, he defended Brenes antics vs. Laak at the heads up championship. You must, must try and get under a players skin... you really think DN's being a ham isn't in some ways a tool to make other players think he is just a big old goof that day? As far as this notion that you must show pros respect, that just makes me laugh. Sure, if I am sitting with 5,000 and you have 40,000 in front of you in a cash game, a little respect.. but when both players have 10,000 grand in the works for the same prize? No respect, and I don't give a **** in that situation if I earn respect or not.

your 100 percent correct, if you suck at poker, then yes you must get under their skin because its the only way in hell that you stand a chance at even crossing the bubble. IF however you do not have a limited repertoire, there are many other ways to get to another player. I think you just want to argue for the sake of arguing though, so we'll just leave it at you must not be a very good poker player and probably are lacking in social skills which would lead you to believe that this guy was in the right. There is a big difference between tactful aggression and just being a douche for the sake of being a douche. I don't expect that you can make that distinction however.

Sometimes, poker includes getting under the skin of somebody who is generally untouchable, however you can. Look at you, getting all worked up trying to talk all kinds of shit. Looks like that tactic would work rather easily on you. GG Kwest4chipz. See you in another year.

No it wouldn't work on me. If one other person posts that they disagree with the fact that Kyle was out of line, i'll eat my hat. It really doesn't even matter that it was DN that was the target of his rudeness, i'd say the same about him if it was any other poker player, pro or amateur. Matter of fact, if I had been blessed to be at the same table with him, I would have said "stop being a smarmy choad, play your cards and stfu." The reason I seem to be worked up about it is that it does nothing for poker to encourage ass hats to behave like this. Where do you draw the line? If every behavior is acceptable to win poker, an argument could be made that if I wanted to win really, really bad....I could kick my opponents square in the balls. Hey, i just wanted to win...its perfectly acceptable.

One is assault, one isn't. Can you guess which one? Funny how nobody at the table said anything to the guy, yet you would speak up. I suspect you would sit there and quietly nurse your stack pretending that you are playing good, solid poker while you hero worship for your 15 minutes.

verbal assault, physical assault.....whats the difference. You must have missed the part where I said I don't care who the guy was talking to, amateur or pro, he was out of line. I don't need to verbally abuse someone in order to play a solid game of poker. You are dealt 2 cards, then there are 3 phases in which you have to decide whether you can beat any other hand out there. You have to decide if you can get away with a bluff if you don't have the goods to win the hand. If you don't think you can win, or you're pretty sure you can't succeed with a bluff, you fold. Using tells, and betting patterns and knowing your opponent help with all these decisions. None of which require you to be a tool in the process. Here i thought you were a christian too, lois. If you were in a game of poker with Jesus would anything go? (not Chris Ferguson). This response should be rich.

I watched this episode today for the first time (after reading most of this thread). I was expecting something out of line, I kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting. The only thing I saw was him mocking the Rocky song or something, and that seemed to be somewhat in a joking fashion, albeit not very funny. I actually think that he had DN confused or DN just didn't like the guy because it seems every hand that ESPN airs from DN he is chatting it up calling out hands, etc. but not in the hands with this guy on his right. I don't know what you saw that was so out of line but I sure didn't see anything. Could you be more specifc as to what he did that was so out of line?

Lol, I don't even remember anymore.....I just thought the guy was a tool after watching it. Prior posts cited reading about it or hearing about it, and that yah the guy was being a dick. Then the discussion raged on with Lois. In the end, it doesn't really matter, my opinion is he is an ahole...Maybe DN and the others at the table didn't feel that way at all...I don't know. I just know if Matusow had been sitting there it woulda made for entertaining tv. I guess that according to Lois, behaving that way is the best way to win at poker. I'll stick to my way, which is no.1 having fun....no.2 retaining a little dignity and class. Heaven forbid I grace a televised event.....thats exactly how I'd want my 15 minutes of fame though, solid poker, having fun playing, and a dash of respect and class for my fellow opponents. The third post in this thread is the one i'm referring to as my source that he was in fact being a tool.
