P.S. I doubt he'll miss any regular season games due to the suspension.

And what's not fair about it? The fact that every player in the league is governed by the same substance abuse policy? Or that it just so happens to be a Leafs' player who violated it.

Why is it that every post I make you have to bash me in some form...
moron
I just said it was unfair for being suspended for something a year after the fact...Not sure if the Leafs were aware of it or not...but one thing is for certain..

I have bashed you over 3000 times? Which means I bash you more than once per post. I wasn't aware of this, perhaps someone stole my password.
Perhaps I should now make a thread where I cry about people personally attacking me and that I am going to leave the forum forever. You called me a moron serge...twice. That hurts me. Only thing is, I don't know how to make threads like that because I try not to take posts on an internet forum very seriously, and generally try not to act like a child. Perhaps I can get some tips from you....

LOL... okay, seriously, THAT was funny.... it would make such a great video montage.....
On the Bell thing, the NHL presumed innocence until he pled guilty. It is common for leagues (Other than the NFL) to wait to see what justice is handed out by the courts before making their own decisions. While he is unlikely to miss any significant amount of time, it would not be surprising to see Bell suspended for 3-5 games. On the other hand, his sobriety, if provable, may be enough. Either way, I wouldn't call it either unexpected or unfair.....

I understand the whole NHL policy thing..but the timing is just bad...they wait a week before training camp to make this announcement, instead of back in August...I also agree that he wont miss significant time but its just not a good way to start training camp for Bell..

A taxi cab would have avoided this inconvenience.

You should be happy...now you have an excuse when you miss the playoffs. Last season it was injuries, this season it can be Bell's suspension.

I was actually expecting a lot less suspension..maybe 3-5 games...Considering the incident took place over a year ago...
in the grand scheme of things its not THAT long and he will be able to help the leafs in a big way this year..

This may be a sore spot for Ottawa Senators fans however....Dany Heatley goes and drives like a madman and kills his friend and he is not suspended...
The only reason he doesnt do jailtime is because its ruled an accident and no alcohol is involved...I think excessive speeding is just as bad as drunk driving as you are at least aware of what you are doing...Heatley should of been suspended a lot longer than BELL...
By no means am i saying what Bell did was right...Drunk driving has no place in society and he should be punished...And he pleaded guilty ,owned up to it and he will serve jail time....Bettman has no right to suspend him for a non hockey incident where the player has been already been punished, especially when the incident happened over a year ago.

Do you also think that Michael Vick shouldn't be suspended by the NFL? It's also a nonfootball incident. I don't see how the time between the actual incident and the suspension being decided upon makes a difference. You have to wait for the courts. For Bell, if the plea agreement had happened last year then he would have been suspended last year.
