After spending a while lurking on these forums, I have decided to create an account here so that I can join a great poker community. I look forward to getting help from people who are willing, and giving help to people if they ask for it (though that probably won't happen until I become a better poker player lol).

Now, for my question: I haven't been able to deposit much money in my PokerStars account and I was getting real bored sitting on my hands and playing play money. So I decided to play around with the FPPs I had, and I managed to win a satellite to the Sunday Hundred Grand. My question is this: Assuming that I don't deposit any money for a while, what is the best way to deal with the 11 T$ that I have? Should I just play the SHG and hope that I'm able to avoid the landmines/play extremely well and cash? Or should I use the 11$ to play some SnG or smaller tournaments? Any advice would be very helpful.

Play sit n go's, definitely. The HG plays worse than a freeroll in the early stages, imho.

If you are looking to build a BR then I suggest taking 11 T$ and playing some $1.20 SNGS or $1.75 turbo SNGs..

If you want to hit it big or bust then I would say play the $100k. You can cash just by playing ABC poker and catching a few hands.

Good luck and welcome to the forums smile.gif

i would consider using the $T to play some more of the sunday hundred grand qualifiers.....the 36 ppl SnG's qualify 6 ppl for 2.20 and the bigger tournaments also cost 2.20 but roughly 1/6th of the field qualify....they are super soft and fairly easy to beat. Build up a reserve of $T, they spend exactly the same as real money in tournies, and u can usually play the sunday hundred grand to boot, gl and welcome..

By the way, we aren't usually this nice, keep your flame suit handy

I've recently looked into playing these.. It's a great payout scale, which offsets the tubro aspect a bit. Any tips to gain edges in the 36man 2.20 turbos? Besides ABC and then pick hands and go with them? I've always considered turbos to be the flush fever of poker, no matter how well I'm running in them.

u hit the nail on the head......basic ABC poker, push the premium hands and hope they hold. There is a brief period right at the start, and again, usually when you get down to 2 tables, where u are able to play some smallball, but the window is very small. Basic ABC poker is netting me about a 30% win rate in these things.

If you dont like the turbo format, the sat. they run every 40 minutes early in the week offers 10 minute levels, a little bit better and a little bit more room to play. Usually anywhere from 20-35 tickets available. End game is awful though as they go hand for hand 4 or 5 spots away from the "money". Especially bad is that combined with hand for hand everybody lets their time clock run out. Chat is also turned off, so u cant scream at them that hand for hand means IT DOESN'T ****ING MATTER how long u take. Oh well, i'll put up with a lot to turn a profit, however small.

Back to OP, I've been playing the 70FPP turbo sat (10 man) to the SHG. I've found that the best way to convert the T$ into cash is 1 table (and occasional 2 table, if you are in the mood) $1 + .2 SNGs.
