Sorry, don't have the hand history. It's a $5.50 tournament, full table, blinds at 120/240. You've been playing very tight, maybe stealing once per orbit, if that. You have about 5800 and are in MP. You make it 600 to go with Jd10d. You get one caller (the button), the blinds fold. The button has you covered by about 1700 or so.

Flop: 5c10h6c (Pot=1560)

You are 95% sure you have the best hand here. The button has played semi-wild/donkish. Earlier she doubled up off chip leader by shoving with a gutshot draw, he bet the pot and could tell he was strong on a flop of 6x9x5x, she check raised him all-in, CL had 2 pair.

1. Would you lead the flop knowing that the button will more than likely raise you here. If you lead the flop, for how much?
2. Would you rather check-raise knowing that the button will almost definitely take a stab at it?

I've been going over this and wondered what would be the best play or how other people would play this.

If button is very likely to raise a c-bet, then do that to get the most chips in the pot. I like a 1/2 pot-sized bet.

BTW, this is an A++ technique to use against lag's.

Ok, well I lead the flop for 960, she raised for like another 3000. I went all in. She reluctantly called with K8off (no flush draw). Turn was the K and I'm out.

I thought about this because I was trying to see if maybe a check raise would've been better, I know this is results oriented thinking here. But my question is did the button have to call because she felt "pot committed" and it was only like another 1300? Was it correct for her to call off another 1300 here? Or was it just a horrible play by the button?

I know I got my chips in good, but I guess my overall question is if it was correct for button to call off the other 1300 knowing she was beat?

It's about 8 to 1 on the call. You could have a middle pair...

If you know button's going to take a stab at it, and you think you can push the button off that stab with a considerable all-in raise - then check-raising is indeed your best option. However this is only true if you want to knock the button off a draw...otherwise, you can't really complain about being 3-outed.

Honestly, I don't think button thought it through that much. I'm almost willing to bet that button probably just through in the rest of her chips saying, "Screw it"

My thing was that I didn't expect the button to put that many chips on a bluff. Like I said, I knew button would raise me, just not that much. Either way, I don't think my play was bad and I got what I was hoping for on that flop, betting at it as if I was weak and having her put all her chips in behind.

Well, I am glad to know that my play was good there against someone like the button.
