100NL - 6 handed

Effective stacks:
$47.5 Villian in SB. Been here for 1 orbit. Hasn't played a hand yet. (He gave me a walk on my BB last time.)

UTG limps, SB completes, hero checks with Jc 6c.

FLOP: 3
Ah Jh 7s

I lead for 2, UTG folds, SB calls

TURN: $7
Ah Jh 7s 6d

Hero bets $6.5, Villian raises to $16.5

SB could have A7/A6, but 67 is also a possibility. He could also be just overrating a naked ace. Given that you have position I like calling the raise and seeing what he does on the river.

... I dunno, man. villains who fold SBs aren't necessarily doing a lot of floating and bullying. Looks like he's trying to commit you to a river push. You could be WB. I get the creeps about this hand and it pretty much is closely related to bottom two, which I'm not a fan of when there's a A on the board and a raise from a rock ... Just sayin ...

do you seriously consider this guy a rock because he folded 1 SB, this villian is an unknown

BTW Scott I absolutely love the flop lead

I don't know... this hand gave me the creeps here as well. If I'm playing for stacks I'm banking on 2 options:
1. He's an idiot and is going crazy with A little and is basically running the old "bluffing with the best hand." gag on me.
2. He floated bottom pair with 67.

Option 1 is more likely i guess.

Yeah. Absolutely. Until he shows me different. When I see it limped to the SB and he folds, I know I'm 99% likely dealing with a nit.

I think that Simo is right. If you shove, you're only getting called by better hands unless it's 67. I think that a call is fine and you can call most rivers as well. You have position and I'd use it. He's not playing it like a draw so I wouldn't worry about the draw too much.

If you're gonna be willing to go broke with what is often the 2nd best hand, see if you can get to showdown without stacking off. His line looks pretty strong and anything that he's repping is stronger than what you got.

I dont really like the situation... i say call and see what he does on the river. its unlikely that he pulls the trigger on the river with just an ace.

Interesting that you'd be inclined to call most rivers. That seems to be the minority at this point. Seems more like a call behind and fold a decent river bet.

I guess I've just seen people do dumber things and turn hands into bluffs that dont' need to be bluffs. I made my point to counter the people saying that you should shove back there. I think if you're willing to get AI, then calling the turn and calling AI on the river is better by far.

Got ya. Yeah, didn't cross my mind to shove ever. I was more along the lines of calling the turn to fold the river or just flat folding the turn.

Results:

I called and the river went check check. I thought, "Great, I won the pot." Villian showed A6 and said he missed a C/R.

Gotta love the double C/R.
