I'm addicted to restaurants, what can i say?anyone else have a spending problem?...lightweight.When I was supporting myself playing cards, my I was incredibly responsible and patient when it came to my bankroll -- play the right limits, reinvest in yourself, move up when you can but not if you don't have to, take the occasional shot but don't gamble too high too often, stake the right players and reach good agreements, etc.But when that money went from PartyPoker to my bank account, it was totally expendable. I was the exact opposite, totally irresponsible. Don't want to clean the house? Pay your roommate 50 bucks a week so you never ever have to pick up after yourself! Pissed that 3 Tigers games aren't on TV this year? Order the deluxe baseball package! There's a cute girl you've never met eating with you and some of your friends? Dinner's on me! Wow, that Chad Johnson Fathead is awesome. SHIP IT! Wasted at 3AM with a friend, and someone (details hazy) suggests going to Vegas? Book a flight for 8AM, drive drunk to the airport, forget to bring more than 1200 between you, no credit cards, and have no hotel reservation on a Friday night, and no return flight for 7 nights! My bankroll was holy, but money was a means for me to get whatever the fuck I wanted, when I wanted it. I wasn't even irrationally impulsive. I just didn't care. WangI think this is the area in which we differ most. I'm unbelievably cheap. I make good money, but for whatever reason, I live below the poverty line. I live in a fairly nice place, but that's it. I go way out of my way to buy everything on sale off the internet, I won't pay to drink at a bar, if I eat out it's fastfood, and if I eat in, I bought it at the poor people discount place. Case-n-point: I used to be a vegetarian, 'til I figured out how to make sloppy joes for less than $0.20 a piece.

Case-n-point: I used to be a vegetarian, 'til I figured out how to make sloppy joes for less than $0.20 a piece.I've always despised being cheap, but I've never lived opulently or extravagantly by ANY respect. I've always lived in shitholes, driven junkers, and still hack away on a computer from 2001. I don't really own any nice things -- no nice clothing, no fancy shoes, no season tickets -- and I basically have nothing to show for whatever money I've earned in my lifetime. I never spent my money on THINGS, I just spent it on lots of stuff; there's a difference there, but it's hard for me to define. Having money around meant that I had freedom, the ability to pretty much do what I wanted without really thinking about it. I just never wanted to do anything all that nice, or HAVE anything all that nice. I didn't make it a habit to eat at nice restaurants, unless there was occasion for it. I always bargain shopped at the supermarket, but didn't just buy Ramen Noodles to save 4 dollars a day. That kind of thing. For what it's worth, I'm pretty much stone broke now, but I don't even care.Wang

I can't take being broke. The stress would kill me.
runthemover 40
I'm not sure if this really belongs here but whatever. Past few months I've been makin' fruit smoothies at home. I make 'em with low fat low sugar vanilla yogurts. cheap. work well. just put 1 in. 4oz btw. after you blend it all up you can't taste the difference anyway. my fav. yogurt of course. break up a banana. cut the ends off and chop up 8-10 strawberries. blend till smooth. add 1/2 cup crushed ice. blend again. bam. yummy. cheap. And, not quite on topic of the thread.

I can't take being broke. The stress would kill me.It's stressful when there are contingencies you haven't planned for, but apart from that it's fine. I need very little for survival and maintenance. I like having enough money to gamble comfortably so that I can find more money when the opportunities arise. I like having a few bucks stashed away so I can be lazy for a few weeks. I'd like to have more in case something happens to me health-wise, but I'm young and invincible, so no worries there. Honestly, car problems are the fucking WORST. James D 0
If you earn less than $7k in 3 months, then you have a spending problem. If you earn, say, $30,000 in 3 months then you don't have a spending problem. It's all relative... spending $7k means nothing on it's own, it depends on your entire financial situation. I have a lot more $ to my name and would not spend the 7k if i couldn't. BUT, i just thought that it was amazing that people who live alone can survive on 15k per year and i on that pace spend 28k a year living AT HOME. I still think i should spend less but i'm not going to because I like to enjoy life and get whatever makes me happy, but not crazy expensive.
