chgocubs99 0
The staking threads are out of control and need to be stopped or put in their own forum. Way more bad than good is coming from this, mostly a proponderance of beggars. I am guilty as I've done it a couple of times myself, but that's neither here nor there at this point. Obviously you know my opinion but I made a poll to see what everyone else thinks. And yes, I could simply skip over the threads. I could also skip over threads that say "Pornaments" if porn offends me, but that doesn't mean it is allowed or should be. If soliciting money or even soliciting transfers is not allowed, then the staking threads should stop immediately, in my opinion.

jethrodull 0
i've staked and been staked....as someone that offered stakes, I did so hoping that the horses could help me build my br better than I was doing...someone offers a stake, and I indicate a willingness/interest in receiving, is that begging?I'd leave it alone, and like you said, skip it if you're not interested....my .02J

tskillz187 0
Meh, I think it kind of brought the community together. Especially the lower stake 4.40 grinders. I do think asking for stakes is pretty stupid and I largely ignore them but think it's cool that a bunch of General 4.40 players have a little community. I wouldn't be opposed to having their own forum.

hblask 1
I don't see the problem with them... people being generous, that's a good thing. If they start coming here and complaining about not getting paid etc, then I say do something. But there has been very little of that.
bdc30 0
I think they'd be better in their own forum. If you don't want to deal with them, they're easier to ignore. rdtedm 0
Wouldn't be opposed to putting them in their own forum, but if thats the case, make a new forum for rail calls, poker quotes, and anything related to poker pros. Everything fits under a category, and there's not just one that seems to flood the forums. Outlawing them would be ludicrous, I agree that making a thread asking for a stake is lame, but if people want to give them out and help people/themselves, what's wrong with capitalism? rdtedm 0
Nice post from Cappy. The reason why I enjoy the General Forum so much is the diversity - it's a place where you can pretty much post anything related to poker (whether you take heat for it is an entirely different story), and it's fun to hop onto one forum and see so much. I doubt that someone at a FT would get as much attention at the rail if it wasn't posted on the general forum, and one of the great things about this community is the support we get from other members. bdc30 0
People make the argument about the forum being too cluttered, with too many subforums as it is. Here's a few that could easily be replaced/removed/condensed.FCP Poker Room -- No longer any such thing -- Last post June 30Daniel's Poker Results -- Great idea, if he played much or posted results -- Last post June 17Photo Gallery -- Could easily condense or join with FCP weekend forum -- Last post April 17FCP Weekend -- Great for the 10 people who went -- Last post July 15ALL Wsop Fantasy Pool forums -- There wasn't one this year, only the ones WE ran...I like the idea of rails and stakes forum. Those who don't want to stake or be staked don't have to bother. I think there would be a great community in that forum.
FoxwoodsPro 0
ive given stakes to friends and have gotten good amount of stakes..personally i think it makes FCP more of a communitysteins 20 or so stakes for a 27.50 MTT was out of control, a super thread and just a good thing to dothe 100k stakeament draft was fun and very interesting.I see nothing bad that comes from it at all.and I personally can't wait to build my roll (online) and offer 20 stakes in a 180 to return the favor to all the good and quality peoples in FCP.the goal of this forum going back to its haydays was to talk poker and get to know everyone and become friends, staking helps the process. And I for one am proud to say I have about 15 FCPers on my buddy list and would stake any of them if they needed it. AS well as countless other posters on FCP because "hey they're one of us"

Maybe Zach can help clean this up as he seems to be the "young blood" of the moderators. While I'm sure the others do a lot of great work they feel like the "higher ups" to me while Zach seems like just another co-worker with a little bit of clout.
