The staking threads are out of control and need to be stopped or put in their own forum. Way more bad than good is coming from this, mostly a proponderance of beggars. I am guilty as I've done it a couple of times myself, but that's neither here nor there at this point. Obviously you know my opinion but I made a poll to see what everyone else thinks.

And yes, I could simply skip over the threads. I could also skip over threads that say "Pornaments" if porn offends me, but that doesn't mean it is allowed or should be. If soliciting money or even soliciting transfers is not allowed, then the staking threads should stop immediately, in my opinion.

im still not sold that many of these people that get these big online scores are winners when it comes to the live game, which, by the way, is real poker.

i've staked and been staked....as someone that offered stakes, I did so hoping that the horses could help me build my br better than I was doing...

someone offers a stake, and I indicate a willingness/interest in receiving, is that begging?

I'd leave it alone, and like you said, skip it if you're not interested....my .02

Meh, I think it kind of brought the community together. Especially the lower stake 4.40 grinders. I do think asking for stakes is pretty stupid and I largely ignore them but think it's cool that a bunch of General 4.40 players have a little community. I wouldn't be opposed to having their own forum.

I don't see the problem with them... people being generous, that's a good thing.

If they start coming here and complaining about not getting paid etc, then I say do something. But there has been very little of that.

I think they'd be better in their own forum. If you don't want to deal with them, they're easier to ignore. Out of sight out of mind.

Wouldn't be opposed to putting them in their own forum, but if thats the case, make a new forum for rail calls, poker quotes, and anything related to poker pros. Everything fits under a category, and there's not just one that seems to flood the forums. Outlawing them would be ludicrous, I agree that making a thread asking for a stake is lame, but if people want to give them out and help people/themselves, what's wrong with capitalism?

Nice post from Cappy. The reason why I enjoy the General Forum so much is the diversity - it's a place where you can pretty much post anything related to poker (whether you take heat for it is an entirely different story), and it's fun to hop onto one forum and see so much. I doubt that someone at a FT would get as much attention at the rail if it wasn't posted on the general forum, and one of the great things about this community is the support we get from other members.

put them in their own forum if possible...if not do nothing. I don't see anything wrong with people wanting to invest money and those wishing to take on those investments.
