hello..i just started playing omaha h/l a few weeks ago, i've learned the rules and basic strategy of the game. i am now playing on the absolute poker microlimit .1/.2 tables. i've been a kind-of tight player (58% fold rate preflop), and have only been able to break even. i was wondering if anyone had any advice for someone just starting out, i'd appreciate it.-acid

Read the section in super system on the game.Oh and don't pump the pot with ONLY the nut low into 2 or less villains.

lol folding 58% of your hands isnt tight. Read the forums old posts, reply to them and Id also recommend the SS2 section on the game for a good primer. If you decide to continue playing after this Id also recommend High-Low split poker for advanced players when you feel you have the basics down.

When you're folding 80% of your non-blinds preflop, then you are approaching tight. O8 is not a lot different than hold'em. Only 15-20% of starting hands are playable.

a lot of the better players seems to have vpips of around 23 in loose full ring games.

Hey, I'll give you 23%. Just not 48%...One of those things where good players can play a wider range of hands, becuase that have the skill to fold when the miss with a marginal preflop hand, and get paid off when they do hit.
