I recently was playing at the worst card room on earth known as Derby Lane. The game was 1/2 NL with 100 max buy in. Villain 1 was the SB with $200. Villain 2 was UTG +1 with $300. Hero was the button with $400. Villain 2 limps for $2. Hero raises to $15 and both Villains call. The flop came 9c 3c 3s. Villain 2 checks and the Hero bets $35. Villain 1 folds and Villain 2 calls. The turn was a Js. Villain 2 checks and Hero bets $100. Villain 2 Moves all-in for $175 more. Villain 2's first impression was that she's a fairly conservative player. After she moves all-in she leans back in her chair and crosses her arms. She looked confident after pushing but a generic read on people at the derby is that they'd be confident here with any jack and possibly even a hand like A9, so it's hard to really know for sure how strong their hand actually is. What should the Hero do?????????????????????????????????????

Yeah Nate, this is one of Jay's friends.I told Jay over IM that this is an instacall. If you're beaten, it sucks, but there are so many ways that you're ahead here you'll more than make up for the times that she turns over the forum classic: Krablar.

I think this has to be a call. You said she's conservative so it's pretty unlikey that she played any hand with a 3 in it. If she had AA, KK, or JJ she would probably raise you pre-flop. You're pretty much only losing to 99, but there are so many hands you can beat.

Agree that you are ahead here enough of the time to make a call. It would be a mistake imo to be folding these type of hands in a live 1/2 game as described. Checking behind on the turn for some pot control may also be an idea if you are considering mucking this hand to said player.

Glad you all agree that this is a call. The OP was really down on his play here, which is unusual because this was, like, the 1% of the time I felt like he didn't completely butcher a hand. ;)The woman was obviously conservative, so showing up with the krablar here was pretty surprising. She didn't play another hand the entire session. I would've bet money she showed up with AcJc.
