Final Three, Need To Chip Up

Recommended Posts

This is from the final three of a 180 SnG. I need to chip up. Both opponents have been using their big stacks aggressively, so I haven't had a lot of chances, so I thought I'd play this aggressively and lure as much money in as possible. Good spot to lure a LAG, or inviting disaster? Should I shove the flop? The turn? The river?Poker StarsNo Limit Holdem TournamentBlinds: t1000/t2000(Ante: t200)3 playersConverterStack sizes:Button: t98849SB: t133297Hero: t37854Pre-flop: (3 players) Hero is BB with 8 :D K :) Button calls t2000 (pot was t3600), SB calls t1000 (pot was t5600), Hero checks.Flop: K :club: A :D 8 :D (t6600, 3 players)SB checks, Hero bets t4000, Button calls t4000 (pot was t10600), SB folds.Turn: 3 :) (t14600, 2 players)Hero bets t10000, Button calls t10000 (pot was t24600).River: J :D (t34600, 2 players)Hero ???

insta shove, anything less just looks like a silly value bet, if you're beat you're beat, but i doubt you're behind. shoving also looks more like a desperation move and is more likely to get called by something really weak. It looks like one of two things, he's either on a busted draw, or he has TP, no way he's got a better 2 pair, nobody can not raise AK pre flop here, and if he did, well, gg you.

Shove the river? What about the earlier actions? Are those OK?

With 2 villains in the hand on the flop and a coordinated board, you can't afford to be giving away free cards. You've done a good job on the flop and turn of taking away his pot odds if he is chasing a draw, but it's probably more likely that he's playing a weak K or A anyway. Any significant value bet on the river will commit you anyway, and he's not going to expect 2 pair here, so I like the idea of shoving the river. Makes it look a bit like you're desperate to chase him away at the end and might get you a call from a worse hand.

Looks like a spade draw or some type of draw to me... maybe QT or QJ... or possibly a Kx that you have beat unless it's KJ... doubt he had AK or any ace because he would've raised preflop, or at sometime during the hand.I was thinking that checking and letting him bluff might be smart... but that'd only be smart if you were both deeper stacked... i think with you having such a short stack he's not going to bluff if he missed... so shoving is probably the best play because it might get him to call with a weaker hand. Checking he might check behind you with a weak hand, but isn't going to bluff if he missed.

your flop bet was fine, if he's drawing he's drawing bad, if this was earlier i'd probably shove the turn because if i bet and a spade hits the river i'm in a tough spot, but like you said you need to chip up, and this is a good spot to do it. The turn bet is risky, but correct in this situation. No scare card on the river, so it's an easy shove.

i could make an argument for going for the c/r on the flop, but betting is never wrong of courseas played, you have to shove the river and hope to get called by maybe two smaller pair or an ace, although one would believe someone with an ace would raise

QFT. A shove here is also only about 60% of the pot, so while it can appear desperate and get some weak hands to call, it's also a price villian may be willing to pay with Ax or Kx (Ax being less likely since he probably would have raised). There are really only two hands that beat you, QT and KJ, and if he has either one of those then you played the hand as well as you could and gg.

i think shoving here is a good play... your not going to fold your hand with the stack u have left if he raises a smaller bet so u might as well bet them....
