I won a satellite to bodog.com's 100K Guaranteed Tournament, and since my main experience in online tournaments comes from PokerStars low buy in, thousands of entries tournaments, I thought I'd ask for some advice. What adjustments must be made for one of the slightly higher buy-in online tourneys. What kinds of things do you tourney experts suggest doing differently when there's so much more money on the line, and those involved are each putting up $110? I've read Harrington on Hold 'em and Tournament Poker for Advanced Players, but just thought I'd check with the more experienced online crew.Any insights would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Use the books, they're made for higher buy-in tournament, not $5 buy-ins. The information you've read in those should be much more useful. Remember, that you're up against advanced players, that make advanced plays. Better players are more likely to be stealing and on seni-bluffs. I'm not saying you should call away your chips, just be aware of who you're up against.
The path
of the righteous man is beset on
all sides by the inequities of the
selfish and the tyranny of evil
men. Blessed is he who, in the
name of charity and good will,
shepherds the weak through the
valley of darkness, for he is truly
his brother's keeper and the finder
of lost children.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those
who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

Thanks for the advice! I'm in the process of re-reading some of the tourney sections of books I have in an effort to warm up so to speak. Another question though for anyone with thoughts. How does your strategy generally change with a tournament structure like bodog's? For their MTTs, the blinds go up extremely slowly. The satellites I've played on the site I've just been playing a lot more conservatively throughout and haven't really opened up my game until much later than I'd expect to at, say, PokerStars with a quicker blind increase. Does this make sense, or does anybody else have any other viewpoints? Thanks again!

Get Harrington on Hold'em. That's my only advice.

Watch for the traps .. advanced players are much better setting traps (flopped the straight, flush, trips whatever), and slowplay them till the river. RESPECT THE ALL IN! You may find a fish or two that will risk their entire chipset on a broken flush draw, but more time than not, you are calling dead.Be the trapper, not the trap-ee.Dev
