Here's a couple of 2/4 hands I played that I found hard to tell what is the correct play:Hand #1:Table is 4 handed I have the button. UTG is loose and aggressive and doesn't need much to raise preflop. I don't have a read on either of the blinds.I'm dealt J :D J :D Preflop: UTG raises and I 3-bet. The SB calls 2.5 cold and the BB caps and everyone calls. At this point I figure the BB for either a big pair or AK maybe AQ and who knows about the SB and UTG.4 people see the flop, pot is 16SBFlop: 2 :D 5 :club: 8 :club: This is a good flop for me with an overpair, however the SB bets, the BB raises and UTG 3-bets. It's now 3 cold to me and my JJ isn't looking so good. I think at this point I have to fold. With this much action I just don't see how I can be ahead often enough to warrant calling here since I still have to worry about overcards coming and the cost to see the river is astronomical. Is this a good fold or should I have called? If I do call, what do you do when an overcard comes? In this case the K :) hit the turn which is also a scare card. In this particular hand, all 3 people called the 3 bets on the flop and it would have checked to me on the turn.Hand #2:Table is 7 handed and I post from the CO. The SB is loose and aggressive, at times borderline maniac but usually only raises with made hands.I'm dealt 10 :) A :club:. 1 fold, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, I check, the button folds. The SB raises and everyone calls. This is an easy call for me. I now have the button and I'm getting 9-1 on my money. With this in mind, is it worth a raise with so many people seeing the flop? With A10s I think so but not with A10o5 people see the flop and the pot is 10SBFlop:10 :club: 9 :club: 4 :diamond:I hit TPTK and like the hand. The SB bets, BB calls, UTG+1 raises, MP1 folds, I 3-bet, the SB caps and UTG+1 and I call.I 3-bet it here for a couple of reasons. The first being I have a solid hand that is only major trouble against a set. I also am trying to get it HU with either the SB or UTG+1 so overcards aren't as much of a problem. The SB capping indicates to me he has an overpair or a very unlikely set of 10's. The only hands I'm really in trouble against are 1010 (need running AA) and AA, I only have 2 outs, possibly 1 as I think UTG+1 might have a 10.I have to call the final bet on the flop as I'm getting 22-1 on the call.3 people see the turn and the pot is 11.5BBTurn: 5 :) This doesn't help me so I plan to call up to one bet. If the SB bets and UTG+1 raises I figure I'm up against a set and have to fold. The SB bets, UTG+1 calls, I call (can't pass up 13.5-1 on the call)3 people see the river and the pot is 14.5BBRiver: A :club: I hit my hand and figure I'm best. In the small chance I'm not I'm gong to have to pay off the better hand. The SB bets, UTG+1 calls, I raise and they both call.Overall, I like how I played the hand and with the size of the pot I don't think I could reasonably fold since I figured all of my outs were clean the vast majority of the time. hand 1: easy fold, IMO. really don't worry and just move onto the next handhand 2: I'd raise it PF, but other then that I like how you played the hand. I like to use odds to make decisions very often. nh

Not that I'm really adding anything here, but yeah, raise hand 2 PF. A bunch of limpers but no raise (Until after you) tells you your hand is probably good preflop. You're not going to get many people to fold given they've already limped, but that's fine--you're not trying to isolate, you're trying to build the pot for when you do hit, as you did here. And yeah, with a bet, a raise, and a 3-bet on hand 1, that's a pretty easy fold. One person could be bluffing, the raiser could think the initial bettor is full of crap, but the third person 3-betting? He either has balls of steel (IE he thinks BOTH people in front of him are full of crap and will fold) or a monster hand, and unless you've seen reason to believe otherwise, you have to give him credit for the latter. This in addition to what you've already said--overcards may well come on the last two streets, and you may have to pay even more before ultimately getting to showdown.

For those that care here are the results:Hand #1: The river was a blank and the UTG player won with 1010. The SB had the top pair on the flop and the BB didn't show. I still think I made the right move by folding but it's annoying getting moved off the best hand :wall: Hand #2: The SB had JJ so my two pair was good and I took down a huge pot. (Of course at this point the SB called me something along the lines of a river slut which made me laugh) :D Zara
