A question for the pt gurus. As a rec player trying to lose a fin or two, I downloaded the trial version of pokertracker. In looking at the data, everyone seems concerned with VP$IP. Needless to say, mine was high. Can you explain exactly how it is calced?? I manually tracked some small sessions, and found that some times bb and sb hands are included in the VP$IP percentage. I have blind hands where I put in $$ post flop, and some were included, some not. What are the rules??Thanks.

God does not willingly bring grief and affliction to the sons of men (Lam 3:33) - then He invented poker.

That metric only deals with preflop.

It is the money you Voluntarily Put Into the Pot preflop. It does not include the small blind or the big blind because you are forced to put this money in. It does include any money you bet, raise, or call with and also if you complete the small blind.I am not an expert on the PokerTracker stats (see JustBlaze for that), but I do know if your VP$IP is too high, you are playing too many hands. Mine is around 20 - 21.
