World Championship Omaha?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I picked up World Championship Omaha, the one by TJ Cloutier, and I'm no where near finished with it, but some of things they say don't make sense to me.For instance, (This is what my question is about) they state that it is almost never right to put in the first raise in an Omaha High game. They say because the first raise won't knock out the people you want it to, and that you may be looking at a much larger reraise that it isn't worth it to put it in.But here is where I'm getting confused. In some situations don't we want more people in, for a hand such as AAJ10Ds, because we have a ton more draws, don't we want to be getting good value on the hand, while still keeping people in due to our draws? And because we put in that raise PF, the postflop action will be that much bigger and better if we hit, at a small cost to our chip stack.Sooo what I'm asking is, isn't it right to be raising PF at least some of the time with drawing hands to encourage play and to build a pot that we can later take advantage of on later streets?

Not raising preflop would destroy my game.TJ is a rock in holdem, and I imagine he is the exact same in PLO. One enduring phrase from a book of his on NLHE is: "if it is folded to you on the button with 9 :club: 8 :D you have to fold."
