Girl injured in pool drain due to suction
Unfortunately, she will remember it and live with it forever. In other locations, they said she will only be able to get 10% of her nutrition from eating, the rest will be intravenous.

They had a pit bull around an infant. The fucking dog was bred to kill.
Maybe they'll get a wolf next time, or a leopard.

Uh.... not necessarily. Lots of what the press calls "pit bulls" are just American Staffordshire Terriers, and most of those are extremely docile. There are people who breed AmStaff mixes for fighting, and these got nicknamed "pit bulls", but there is no such breed. It seems unlikely that this family had a dog from a fighting line. My brother has an AmStaf, and it is absolutely trustworthy.
Sounds like this one is just horny, not dangerous in that "bite to kill" kind of way.
And yes, the parents need to be aware what the dog is capable of... so yeah, it's their fault.

Understood, but I take 'horny' to mean, "I am dominant over you and will show that aggressiveness if I feel I need to, or my attention is threatened by the attention you get.'
I guess I just don't trust many dogs around infants/very young children is all. A friend of mine got a nice chunk of cheek taken out when she was about five. Don't remember the type of dog.

I wondered about that, but the article mentions a diaper, so I'm assuming the dog pulled it off.
To DoinSublime, I think it's wise not to trust dogs unattended around kids. Even if they are perfectly safe around adults, some dogs hate kids (and vice versa). Having said that, I know a number of dogs that I would let my babies play around without fear, including one of those vicious American Staffordshire Terriers (aka "pit bulls"). If you don't know the dog, or are unaware of danger signs, just keep your kids away. The cost of a mistake is too high.
We get lots of reports of people who say "my dog never did anything like this before...". Then, after further questioning, we get "oh yeah, it did growl at him that one time over that toy...", or "he only does that in certain circumstances, so we didn't think it was a big deal....", etc. Dogs almost always show warning signs long before they cause harm. Having said that, I've never heard of a dog raping a child before, so I wouldn't even know what to watch for, except perhaps excessive pushiness around the children.

What was the point of making this story public? Are they hoping for a big payoff from the book/movie of the week tie-in somewhere down the road when this guy is a teenager and finally goes insane from the constant teasing from other children?

Thats what I'm wondering. Why not just kill the dog, have the child treated medically and never mention it again.
