Shove, no limp. You just gave the raiser and the original limper fantastic odds to call you.

You may have had same scenario with just the shove but why give opponents more reason to call here.

I think you need a stronger hand to pull this play and even then I wouldn't worry as you are too short for most to put you on a monster.

AQ is not a monster so don't get tricky with it, especialy when you are this short.

Yeah, I'd save the limp-shove for AA and maybe KK. AQ is just too mediocre for that kind of move. Button could have raised with several hands that already put you well behind: AA, KK, QQ, AK.

not only that but you give teh CO a chance to enter the pot & get himself commited to a hand he might not have gone w/ otherwise... he's so short just calling the BB has commited him to this pot, add that w/ like >3:1 odds on his money & i can even justify calling w/ 44 in his position... play FTW haha...

agree w/ others in regards to finding a better spot than A Q to limp shove w/ ... but then again i almost never limp shove so i guess dont listen to me... i like cash, not tourney =X

I think I see why you did this - your stack really sucks. You really can't raise to 3x bb and fold to pressure, and if you shove you're probably only getting called by stronger hands. So you hope a weaker hand like ATo tries to pick up some dead money with all the limpers.

Maybe he could give us his rationale for making the move...

my rationale was exactly what trystero said. I was hoping to go heads up against a weaker hand.

I think you may get weaker hands tocome in... you also allow hands you are behind that would to an original push achance o call. Hands like 77-22 may take a swipe and now when you push they feel comitted and you are behind.

The original push would be more likely to get rid of these hands.

And if you only get limpers, you get burned alot on the flop here by odd combinations when you hit your tp/hk or hp/tk and push (two pairs, sets, and all sorts of draws).

Finally, you will be called by many hands that you are ahead of and crushing at this point of tourney. If you think only AK and PP call you here, I want to play where you are as that's a lot of easy blind stealing for the stack sizes relative to the blinds for us to build on.

If the villains are that tight, i'd go with a 2.5BB raise until played back at.

You can't limp shove here because you don't have enough chips. Anybody that raises you will then be getting 2:1 or better depending on the other action. As short as you are, and with this hand, you need to shove first and get heads-up or pick up the blinds.
