MP ($167) - fairly tight, highly aggressive, usually respectable play
SB ($250) - hero
BB ($300+) - somewhat loose, aggressive, bad player
preflop- MP limps for $2, hero limps in with AcJc for $1, BB checks
flop- Ah Jh 5d hero checks, BB checks, MP bets $10, Hero raises to $30, BB calls, MP calls.
turn- Qs hero bets $60, BB thinks for a while and folds, MP goes all in for $75 more, hero calls.
MP has Ks-10c, river is a blank and MP takes the pot.
my thinking during hand- preflop- i didn't want to raise out of position into a $5 pot, i think limping here is probably the best play.
flop- i went for the check raise here bc i thought the BB or MP would probably bet here with any pair or draw and people usually over bet the pots in this game when the pots are small. I raised $20 bc i thought it would be enough to force out a weak draw but possibly keep in an Ace.
turn- since the BB called, i was pretty sure he had hearts. I didn't know what MP had, but i thought maybe hearts there too. I ruled out AQ for MP because they would have raised preflop. I bet $60 bc i thought it would be enough to force out a heart draw and hopefully both players would fold and id take it down right there. Once the MP went all in, i was really baffled. I thought it might be hearts stil but maybe Kh10h or could have just been hearts with a pair like KhQh. I had to call for the size of the pot and i still had outs regardless.
my thinking after the hand- the only thing i think i could have done differently is raise more on the flop. $20 should have been enough to force out a gutshot as the odds are not there (calling $20 into a $70 pot), but in a low limit game there are going to be players who will make it. I think a raise to $40 would have been better and I probably would have won the pot on the flop. Also after the hand the BB revealed he did have hearts, so at least i was on with that read. Obviously, I spent most of the rest of the session thinking ab this hand lol.
So.....is there anything else I could have done differently, or is this just a cooler/bad beat? the offsuit Q was the only card that could have busted me bc if a hearcame I would have gotten away. What do you guys think of the play in this hand?
A Hand From 1/2 Nl

i prefer raising pre-flop, you have the best hand almost for sure and you want to get the money in while you have the best hand, plus if he folds you just pick it up and eliminate position altogether in this hand
i'm ok with the way you played the rest of the hand, there's nothing you can do to avoid him calling the flop with a gutshot and getting there

he only came along cause he had position & > 3.5:1 odds on his money... plus if a non heart Q comes he's got the nuts

If you look at the betting on the flop. You MUST consider his bet. I wouldn't have called at this point if i were him but ok....
when the Q came. You would have had to be giving him the initiative or make a bet to see where you are, why $60 ? Were you affraid that he would still be drawing. I wouldn't mind milking him for a few more and give him a chance.
What were you putting him on calling your bet on the flop AQ slowplay or flush draw ? In both cases the $60 was wrong.

I bet $60 on the turn bc it was pretty obvious to me that the BB had hearts and i didn't want him drawing cheaply. I didn't really know what the MP player had and it was hard for me to think i was beat by him especially the way he played it since he called $20 with 3 outs. The pot was already big enough and i didn't want to risk getting drawn out on if it was possible.
I really thought Kh10h was the only hand that could now have me beat, i didnt expect that player to call with only K10.

You must raise AJ preflop here.
