Button has 8s Jh (two pair, jacks and eights). Outcome: Button wins t13080. I guess the stop and go doesn't work so well when they hit 2 pair, he did wait about 15 seconds before calling, the jerk, lol. Obviously his raising range is huge, being the boss stack and near the bubble, he knows most people are scared to go out. My other option was to shove pre flop, although he might have called just 'cause he had the chips, then i could whine about how J8>KQ, lol. I'm not particularly upset with the result, any thoughts on using the stop and go here, you think my stack was big enough to be effective against the big stack, or was i getting called by ace high or better here? cubbybri 0
If he has ace rag and thinks you have tight range than he should fold here.Once you start talking A8+ he probably should be calling you. He has odds here unless he thinks there is a good chance he is dominated.Pot odds are about 1.8 so he is good to call coin flip of course(he can only be on good end of coin flip)and if he thinks his cards are live than he has odds to call unless he puts you on a pair. This is not to say he would not call even if he thought he was dominated but the proper decision is he is good unless he thinks overpaired or dominated. So the push here would be dependent on you image as of late. Have you been pushing, if so, I don't think you need to push here. If your image has been strong, go ahead. You are short, you may not get much better but you may still have time to find a better place. If you opened then pushing is so much better but with him opening, he gives himself fairly good reason to call your push unless you have been playing very tight as of late. DrZoidberg 0
Well I had been in 3rd or so with 15,000 chips and made a really really bad call, I'm not even sure what the hell I was thinking, called an allin on a ragged board with Ajo for 3/4ths of my stack and not that it mattered but it was aces. That's why i'm not really dissapointed with anything that happened after that, because i deserved to be knocked out after such a horrible call. Anyway only hand I'd played since then was a UTG shove with 10 10 to double up. Prior to the terrible call I'd been laying low after I'd been check-raised allin on a bunch of pots i opened and made CB's on, so I would assume my image was lacking since he saw me making the CB's without being able to call the raises. On a side note this was my one OMGLOL hand for the tourney, I don't usually limp in with aces but I was willing to risk it if i could get a good flop and trap the other big stack at the table. I didn't expect it to be this good, I was hoping he'd put me on a busted flush draw, but I guess he really didn't have much of a hand either.PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FCP)BB (t5720)UTG (t1895)UTG+1 (t3345)MP1 (t3710)MP2 (t2210)CO (t1190)Hero (t5320)SB (t3990)Preflop: Hero is Button with A , A . 5 folds, Hero calls t150, 1 fold, BB checks.Flop: (t375) A , 6 , A (2 players)BB bets t150, Hero calls t150.Turn: (t675) 3 (2 players)BB bets t300, Hero calls t300.River: (t1275) 5 (2 players)BB bets t600, Hero raises to t2100, BB folds.Final Pot: t3975Results in white below: Hero has Ac Ad (four of a kind, aces). timwakefield 69
Don't post results (until discussion has died down). Also, LOL at eddie saying grow a pair. A stop and go is a MUCH more ballsy play. Also, I like it here. Depending on how often he has been raising, sometimes PF shove is better though I think. If his range is really wide then just shove preflop, and he'll probably call you with a lot of hands that you beat. The problem with a stop and go if he has an ultra-wide range is that he'll only call you if his raggedy cards hit the flop, but he might have folded to a PF shove or called you with weak cards. Against a somewhat tighter range for him I like the stop and go. If your opponent is a reasonable player he'll fold if he misses.
The Nuts 0
Fancy Play Syndrome. In 180's, I play by the philosophy of KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid). Just get it all-in preflop. Most people don't even know what a stop and go is.
magnus72 0
I dont play a whole lot of these "180s" but in my home game I use the stop and go a lot. once you have made up your mind to do it there is no turning back and you live with the consequences.
sah_24 0
i think ur play here is not bad at all cuz u made a play at a guy who was tryin to run over the table and u did it at a time when he cant call u without hittn the flop u just ran into bad luck, im not a fan of reraisin pre bc if u play these that guy is callin u anyways wit his stack size (and if he does call ur only a 60 40 fav). I think u made the best play to win the pot without hittin of course.
