I play a fair amount of B&M trnys and usually make the final 2-3 tables. I play conservative early, tight aggressive mid trny and a mix near the end. I am playing in a trny at a volunteer fire house this weekend and wanted some advice from people who have played these types of trnys. They are using Roberts rules and have dealers but my bet is 1/2 of the players are the "seen it on TV types".Here's the set up. (I know poor overlay but it's close by and it is for charity) $150 buy in. No rebuy. 80 players max. $1500 starting chips and blinds start at @25 $50 with 30 minute rounds. I don't really like the $1500 with $25-$50 but I know I have to be a tad more aggressive a tad earlier. Payout is final table with first getting $2000 and 2nd getting $1000. My question is how to play it early with a bunch of firefighters. I am expecting a ton of bluffs (not correct bluffs but lots of them) and 1/2 the field gone in the first 90 minutes.Thoughts? Advice? Any input, especially if you've played these kinds of trnys before, is greatly appreciated.

With that structure and those types of players, you have to pray you get a good run of cards early. Keep in mind flopping 2 pair will probably take down the pot and if you're against several bluffers, just let them bet into you until the river. It's not technically, mathetically correct, and you might end up being outdrawn, but it works. I play homegames with people like that all the time, and while the blind structure at our games is much better, so I have time to wait for strong hands to beat them down with, you can still have success if you don't get colddecked. If you go 10 rounds without seeing anything good, you'll probably be screwed.
