Ontario to gamble it up by end of 2013

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) today announced it has selected a vendor to provide services to its internet gaming program, which will be available to residents of Ontario in late 2013.

Following a procurement process, SPIELO G2 was selected as OLG’s primary service provider to provide interactive casino-style games for online play including slots, video poker games and table games. OLG will be running their online offering at PlayOLG.ca where customers will also be able to purchase lottery tickets. OLG’s internet gaming program will be launched in phases with the first to include lottery and gaming offerings. Subsequent phases will include bingo, sports wagering, online poker and the introduction of other new products.

It would be brilliant if they actually considered whatever it is playnow in BC is running and made it compatible to try for a national network someday... I guess provincial would want to protect it in province as all gaming is...

It is the same company that is providing the poker software for B.C. and Quebec. I would imagine they will network with the other Provinces for poker. It's too bad that the rake is very high and the software sucks.

I agree with the rake but I know in BC at least the site's mainstream marketing draws in plenty of very casual players which compensate for the rake and software... Luongo draws a lot of donks :P

Perhaps I am mising something here but online poker isn't banned in Canada, so why would you want to play on a site with high rake and bad software when Pokerstars or equivilent is only a click away?

why play on the OLG site when rake is cheaper on PokerStars, and they will always spread better games.

There will be some people who will trust a government run site more especially for things like online slots or blackjack.

If the law gets changed and they are allowed to accept single game sports bets that will really help them.

I don't think online poker is going to be that big a business for them but don't underestimate the revenue from casino games they can make along with things like allowing online lottery ticket purchases. Lotto 6/49 got up to over $64 million on Saturday and I'm sure they will sell even more tickets when people can do it online.

That being said there is no way that the governments revenue projections have any hope in being reached.
