  1. Generally I'll double or limp here and hope someone overplays Ax. When an A hits I'll reraise if it's not too heavy but I don't wanna go all-in with AJ early and 80+ bets seem to draw those donkeys out and I'd rather they push when I've got somethin stronger.
  2. I don't think Matusow's table image has the sort of credibility that Farha would base any of his actions on anything Mike was doing. I mean he's tried to make deals with players that if they pushed he'd call and then when they did he immediately folded. It's not like your word is your bond is particularly a hard 'n fast rule in poker.
  3. I think this is a great situational play. Personally if I'm playing a 100+ tourney and we're on the bubble or later and it's getting to the point that some of the shorter stacks are trying to steal blinds/antes I'll make this play and put myself way ahead 90% of the time. Final table and bubble situations when everyone's playing tight unless they sense weakness I'll do this anytime I think someone is going to bet behind me and I know that the game is pretty tight.
  4. Yah this is on my list but I'm readin Caro's first just cuz I'm old school like that heh.I wonder how easy it might be to do these tells intentionally. /laughs maniaclly
  5. Yah it's not ideal but I'm building without much of a start and only playin .25/.50 with partial winnings on the week.January is a lil skewed because I started off really badly and brought it back in the last couple of weeks as I got the ball rolling.
  6. First time in on this thread so here's the background. Initial $50 BR dep Jan 1. 07 with a goal of hitting $100 by the end of the month playing .05/.10 cash games about 6 hrs a week and 2-3 $3 1table SNGs.Result BR: 02-01 - $114February:Moving up to $5 1table SNGs and $1 45 person SNGs 2 each/day. And around 6 hrs at the .25/.50.Would like to move my stack up to about $250 this month so I can make a push for $500 in March.Right now all I play is NLHE for $$ and I'm learning some of the nuance in PLO and 7stud in the play money games when I have time. Played in some .25/.50 cash tables yest
  7. Well my approach in the EPT fpp qualifiers on PS has been to play tight and selective early but mixing in a lot of 1 space connectors (esp if suited). I like to make a splash and try to get up to around 30-50% more in chips in the 1st 2 rounds and be doubled up by the 1st break. With that chip stack I've generally been able to play tight, steal in late position with strong/marginal strong hands and try to spike sets/str8s/flushs when I can limp and raise 3-4x with AA, KK, etc down to 10s and suited paint connectors. So far it's worked ok as the top 10-20 make it to the ME tourney out of aroun
  8. Fold and acquire some info on what the villains would raise and call with in those hands hopefully it'll go to showdown. Also depends on buy-in for me. If this is a micro or low buy I might consider pushing just cuz it won't cost me much and I'll be way ahead if it works out and if it's low or micro someone might be pushing with something like pocket 8s or 9s. I'd prolly put the original raiser on 10s and the smooth on Kings so I'd be tempted to call and then be stuck playing low ball til I'm back to 1500 or be way ahead to the money.
  9. At this point I would probably smooth call and fold if I miss the lowball or flush draws. Preflop I'd call a bet of up to 3x the BB but I doubt I'd go much more. Maybe I'm just gunshy cuz I've missed some big pots playing a hand like this that didn't run out but I just think given the situation it's a push that doesn't have to be done and could lead to trouble if anyone calls. If you really want to push to steal blinds I would take it up to about 1200 but nothing more and even then I probably wouldn't do it in this position. I just see A4s as a hand you need to hit something to have someth
  10. Easy fold here. Pot isn't worth that big of a bet imho. The only time you'd be ahead at this point would be if they were semibluffing with a Qc high flush draw. Otherwise you'd be against something like AJ, KJ, QJ, JJ, or even pocket3s. It's unlikely someone would be that hard without something to fall back on and I'd rather let them have it hear so they'll do it again later when you have a more solid hand rather than chase a flush which could cost you a ton if something like a 10 comes out and you make another big call and still don't hit your hand. I could also talk myself into pushing
  11. Normally I don't trust these kinds of players and with that many chips and the blinds that low I'd fold. Reason being that I want him to think he can get away with that bet later. If he's willing to risk all of his chips for a very small pot now he'll be willing to do it later especially if he thinks you'll fold. Therefore it should be easy to trap him with a set, top2 pair, st8/flush later on. I don't care to push all my chips in that pot with that weak of a kicker and top pair. I think the overtime payoff for this might work out but it's one of those situational plays where I would fold,
  12. The best characteristic of small ball imho is you give your opponents informatino on what hands you will raise/play with so you automatically cull the players in the pot that don't have strong hands. It keeps people honest and generally makes it a 2 way fight for the pot, given the different levels of understanding what that person might have the flop is a great indicator and it's a perfect strat for slowplay 'n check/raise b/c it's a 2 way pot.
  13. Yah this is an extremely easy fold imho. The only thing you've got in the pot is a weak kickered middle pair with a flush, straight draw, and higher pair all on the board. I think it's possible to put him not on the ace but with the # of chips he has suited connectors or a better kicker (Q/10) might put you in trouble. Ultimately it's not so much about what my opponent necessarily has but when he's betting that hard and what I have is that weak... I lay it down and hope he continues to bet that hard in the future so I can slowplay and double up into him with a set/straight/flush/better top
  14. If you were up against 1 other hand I think you push but given the option of watching 2 opponents knock each other out you lay it down. JJs are only as good as your opponents hands and generally when I see 2 opponents looking to push before I've gotten money into a pot I lay it down. That said I'm generally happy cashing and not as concerned about top chip count with that many players yet. You're basically guaranteed to see someone move you up a spot and as much as I hate laying down Jacks I just really really don't like them in these situations where you know people will be moving in with
  15. Yah I think you played this well and got the action you wanted out of a pushy player. Just chalk it up to hittin the backend of the stats and be glad you hit it after cashing as far as I'm concerned.
