That's the kind of fight Shogun seems to win. Tread lightly
Its an interesting fight.
Manuwa seriously breezed the UFC, until Gus. He has, excluding Gus, though, fought the UFC equivalent of cans.
This is his 1st fight against a non can.
Ruas record is deceptive. Statistically, other than BJ Penn he's the worst person to have held the strap (6-7 UFC) but his record is a murderers row, even with his recent loss to Ancient Hendo. Still, he only beats cans, his freak win over Machida notwithstanding.
He is almost a pure inside striker, as is Manuwa, but I think Manuwa is better.
This isn't one where I'll be shocked to lose. I will definitely watch that card though. Stylistically, the potential is there for it to be a great fight.

Hunt fights are great.
I will, however, be betting hard against him v Fabricio Werdum.
Even you cannot curse the fact that he will be losing that fight (and by submission)
Also this is fight 2 of 6 on his contract, which he says will be his last run in MMA (duh, he's 40) but it would be interesting if he actually won an interim title and defended it and got a unification fight against Cain.

Mendes could drop all the way down to 125 if he wanted to.

Tall for the division, very solid boxing and striking background. He will get subbed by someone, then take his wrestling and subs seriously, like Gustafsson, and then be a legit threat.
Watch. This is exactly how it plays out. I think he out-long;s Mendes but McGregor said last week that he is going to have one more fight before the strap, they're figuring out out now. It can only be the winner of Edgar/Swanson for the #1 contenders slot for the winner of Aldo/Mendes.

Actually a very sensible step up in competition Siver is scary, legit, but not super-duper elite. He will test you on the ground in a pretty serious way, he's extremely bulky for a feather but he is a can crusher. This is at once a setup fight to keep McGregors streak alive but also a test, since Siver is basically a lite version of what McGregor wouild be facing in the top 5 of FW.
If McGregor beats him, a contendership fight makes total sense. If not, then that answers that.

Matt Brown = very exciting fighter but a brutal submission liability so they gave him a long stream of strikers and he won and won and won but give him someone with major wrestling and subs, he loses again just like he lost all the others. They know they have a Golden Calf with McGregor. They also know he is one dimensional They're going to do whatever they can to create the illusion of title contendership, whether its valid or not.
I think Siver is supposed to be a walk-through, ala Rick Story. He can lose against Aldo and not damage his brand very much but there is a shitload of money to be made off McGregor in the meantime, giving him a bad match up will be a financial mistake for the UFC.
