poker egos out of control

Wow I happened to this reply concerning Daniel on rgpThis guy Gary Carson is still licking his wounds from a post dispute from five years ago concerning - some silly limit hold em hand Has this guy ever kissed a girlAnyone followed this before? The dispute is from a thread you can look up on google under what to do on the flop a tough decisionseems to me much too much thought on a silly question in the first place Here is carson's blast 5 years after the factNow, this is funny. The only evidence I've every seen of his reads on people is on TV, wherealmost every hand, whether he's invovled or not, after everyone shows downtheir hand, Danny says, "I knew you had that".There's an example in the archives of rgp that pretty much shows he'sterrible at analysis of a situation and can't read people worth a shit. There was a dispute about whether or not Mason had done the right thing ina call he made (the hand was being discussed). Danny insisted that no onewho would make that call knew anything about poker. It is true that itwas probably have been a bad call in a tournament. But, among those whothought the call was right was me, Abdul, Mason, and David.Trust me on this, if me and Abdul agreed with Mason and David, it's prettyclose bet that it was hard to rationally critisize the call. But, anyway, to prove he was right, Danny completely ignored any rationalarguement and just went and asked a handful of his players hanging aroundthe cardroom and they all agreed with Danny that a fold was the rightthing.Interestingly, David, who just didn't beleive that all those good playersdidn't understand why it was a good call, went and described the hand tothe same players, and they all said it was at worse an okay call. Somesaid they might not make it themselves because it was marginal, but noneof them said what they'd said to Danny. Why? Because Danny didn't understand the important features of thesitubation and left out some important stuff when he described the hand tohis consultants. How does this show that Danny can't read people? Well, he was unable tofigure out what people who would have made the call where thinking. Hecould not read me, abdul, mason, or david. He also was unable to read hispoker room buddies, because they apparntly picked up cues from him aboutwhat he wanted them to say and he didn't realize it.In that thread, a couple of years ago, he demonstrated a complete lack ofability to analalyze a poker situation rationally and zero people readingskills.Look, Danny is a good poker player and has had very good results. But, this shit of attributing to him skills he's clearly shown he doesn'tpossess is just nonsense. Here are some choice words from the flame war Do you actually play poker Daniel? This post was just nonsense. Itdoesn't matter how bad your opponents are? I guess if you're colddecking the game it doesn't matter.btw, I'm not the one who used a mathematical formula. That was Abdul. And, he didn't claim math as an authority. I'm pretty sure Abdul doesnot do his poker analysis by using an "let's ask the authority"technique.Since you don't have anything left to learn about poker, you mightspend some time working on reading comprehension. It takes a lot before I decide someone is just worthless. But, you'regetting real close Daniel. Can anybody that actually plays poker verify what Daniel's claimingabout the Belligio 100/200 game? Also, anybody remember the name of that hold'em book back in the 70'sthat talked about "betting on a 3 count"? I was reminded of that bookby Daniels claim he can tell whether or not anyone knows anything aboutpoker by whether or not they "have a rythm" (or some such thing) totheir betting. I never thought being predicable was of much value.btw, the worst poker player I've ever seen in my life used to playevery week in a $10,000 buyin nolimit loball game. Playing for bigmoney does not define anything at all about your skills at poker.Gary Carson Daniel Negreanu May 28 1999, 12:00 am show options Newsgroups: rec.gambling.poker From: Daniel Negreanu <kidpo...@hotmail.com> - Find messages by this author Date: 1999/05/28 Subject: Re: What To Do On The Flop - A Tough Decision? Reply | Reply to Author | Forward | Print | Individual Message | Show original | Report Abuse Ok Gary,Now your just getting on my nerves. Do I play poker? Do youreally want to find out? Do you really want me to crush youlike a little bug at the poker table? Not to prove my point, just to send you home with your tail between your legs. Youknow where I'll be, I'm at the Bellagio, you name the game andthe stakes and we'll get a dealer. Who are you? What real pokerhave you played? Who are you to ask me if I play poker. I'llput my money where my mouth is, but I'm sure you'll come up withsome good excuse to avoid embarrassment. If not, I'm ready whenyou are, and I won't quit until you give up.I realized along time ago that you can't please everyone. UsuallyI treat people with respect, but I have no respect for you oryour opinion. You are a joke, another wanna-be player. Youstarted attacking me before I said anything bad about you, butI won't just let you have your way with me. You really wantto test your knowledge against mine? It'll hardly be a match, but I'm looking forward to hearing your excuse. As far as playing high not defining one's skill? It sure is agood guideline when that person's sole income is from poker.Daniel Negreanu

It's probably the same Gary Carson who wrote "The Complete Book of Hold 'Em Poker: A Comprehensive Guide to Playing and Winning". I've never read it so I don't know if it's a piece of crap or not. He's probably just jealous because Daniel is the best player in the world right now and he's sucks.I wouldn't expect Daniel to know who Gary is since he's never read a poker book.

Even when Daniel is pissed he is a nice guy. Too funny. Maybe Josh can teach him a few comebacks. I think most of us here would pay money to have Daniel criticize our game. I don't think I would take the challenge. I kinda like my house.
