5-card PLO8 is spread online at Entraction. Tables are 6 or 8-handed.This game is probably more interesting than 5-card PLO or regular PLO8. What are your thoughts on approaching this??I think low hands with suited potential skyrocket in value, and the concept of position really becomes paramount.

wow kind of cool. yah draws preflop would go way up in value, do you have to discard one of the cards? like, say pineapple?

You keep 5 cards and play 2 just like regular PLO8. You get more action generally, but I think you want to try and thin the field so your hand hits high(with low draw, say) against fewer people. I mean there are standard nut flops, and nut draw flops, but 2-pair + low draw is what I think should be acceptable against 1 or 2 players...

it should mostly play the same but let you lean more to seeing flops, with 5 card almost nothing is anywhere close to the nuts preflop so just see lots of cheap flops with draws and rape face

game plays so freaking tight post flop vs the regulars that i am not a real big fan, but this game is ultra profitable vs poor players as you can peddle the nuts so easily... with the world series coming up i would add that there are some very good games that run at Rio...

There are a couple of things you should note in PLO8 5c vs PLO8 4c. Obviously you need a stronger hand to go to war postflop. In the 4 card game with 100 bb's you can always ship TPTK w/ nut low draw on the flop, but in the 5 card game that's not a great hand unless you have a backup low. Preflop A2xx is gold with 4 cards, with 5 cards having just A2xxx isn't enough. Preferably you'd like suits and at least one other good low and high card, e.g. A23KJ would be a hand you can play very aggressively pre. Position is even more important in this game than in standard PLO8, for obvious reasons. Most PLO8 5c games that I've played have been very deep stacked games. Also the Entraction games play with 200 bb stacks. Live games are easily 500+ bbs deep. When you're that deep it's paramount you understand relative hand strenght and know to pick your spots well. The usual "PLO8 rules" apply, as in you should avoid getting freerolled and seek freerolls for yourself, all this is just more important in the 5 card game. Also understand that aces aren't as strong in a 5 card game, but I still play good aces aggressively, but I wouldn't recommend that if you have a very passive style preflop. In that case it's better to play all hands passively pre than to play aces aggressively and all other hands passively.
