  1. You could play .01/.02 and buyin for $1 and nit it up. As you build up a BR start buying in for 100BBs.
  2. What worse hands does he call a raise with? With no other reads or history you can't tell me hes a spew monkey who will call check raises with air. What better hands does he fold?? When you bet or raise it should be for value or as a bluff. I still don't think raising here is the most +EV way to play the hand
  3. Are there really enough weaker hands in his range that call a check raise on this board to justify this? Also if he does have AK why do you want him to fold? he has 6 outs against your hand and may take another stab on the turn.
  4. I think you need to reevaluate why you're raising this flop. You say that you thought a c/r would take down the pot which essentially turns your hand into a bluff. PFR cbet into 3 players which, without more info, i don't think he would do with AK. He did bet small and the other 2 players folded so i think its a good spot to call and reevaluate heads up on the turn. Its hard to say what hands he could have here if we don't know what kinds of hands hes opening preflop but i think my standard would be to call flop and probably call turn depending on the card and his bet size.
  5. Books are overrated IMO. Much better value in joining a training site like deucescracked. As far as books go http://www.thepokerpuzzle.com/A bit expensive but lotta good stuff in the book. It really makes you think about poker and players ranges. Instead of "This is a good board to cbet", this book goes deeper into what happened preflop? What is his range for calling your raise preflop? what part of that range is going to call a cbet? what part of that range is going to fold to a 2barrel and so on. Edit: Also comes with 2 hours of coaching. There is also a discussion thread where you can ask
  6. Once you get to 25nl it shouldn't be a problem. I actually hit goldstar at about 30k hands last month and i've only reached silver this month but i've only played like 15k hands. That being said I'm cashing out about half my roll and switching over to FT w/ rakeback fwiw
  7. If you want to turn FPP's into cash there is a sng sat to the sunday 2 hundred grand tourney for 210fpp's. Its 20 players and top 6 get paid. From there you just unregister and you get your T$11. You can use that to play in whatever you want or you could sell it on 2+2. (or as long as its not too many send me a pm and we'll talk) If 210 fpps is too many there is also a 70fpp sat w/ 10 players but only 1st gets paid so its a little tougher. The play in both these are absolutely horrible.
  8. How can you complain when you've more than tripled you roll in 15 days?
  9. If you haven't already made a decision i would check out deucescracked. No sign up fee. No DRM. Free 7 day trial. Tons of content.
  10. Didn't really make any goals for march but i moved up to 25nl on stars and made goldstar with +326 (2.29ptbb/100)April goals:Maintain goldstarWork on playing better (making better folds) and improving winratePlay more hands, moving into an apt about 5 minutes from work which will save about 2 hours a day
  11. I've played the heads up sng's on stars a few times and they are very soft. I don't know what site you play at but stars has a few interesting choices for this. I actually just played a 32 man $5.25 heads up tourney and took 2nd. VERY soft IMO. Got coolered @ the final table when i flatted a 3bet on the button w/ AA and the flop came 234 and he shipped and shows 56 :/ Anyway it was quite fun and to cash all you have to do is win the first 2. They also have HU sng where the blinds don't increase w/ 50BB starting stacks and one w/ 200BB starting stacks. I don't remember seeing this a few months
  12. Just another thought on this. There are going to be times where you will go days and days without winning money even if you are playing GREAT poker. Just keep this in mind cause i know its frustrating. I've only started playing seriously about 6 months ago and have already had a 15 buyin downswing and have had a 15k breakeven stretch and i've only played about 100k hands. If this happens to you it might take weeks/months for variance to catch up with you. All you can do at that point is post the hands you have questions with and see if its just variance of if there is something you could have
  13. I play 6max not FR but IMO you need to be raising any PP from any position. At higher stakes it might be correct to just fold small PP's from EP but at $5NL Your never going to get 3bet or squeezed. The point of raising pre is to build a pot so when you hit your set there is money to be won, and when there is money to be won people are more likely to get involved than in a limped pot. As for post flop im fine with just giving up. Villains range could be anything here and even if you improve on the turn or river you still may be behind and its probably better not to get involved.
