That's the sort of thinking that is making the recovery process a lot harder. I was directly affected by the flooding (I'm in Cedar Rapids, IA) and we received roughly five feet of water in the first floor of our house. Everything was ruined. Water heater, washer, dryer, fridge, stove, air conditioning. And I'm sorry, but there's about 5 to 10 percent of this country that could probably replace all of those things out of pocket. I've got a damned decent work ethic (I've never been unemployed and started working when I was 15), but I have no idea how we're going to even begin replacing all
