and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

Nap I'm not sure. My boss wanted to have a drink after work so I will bring it up then.

Strat she is tone deaf and it is one of the many reasons she would never have this job. Think of me here how you like, but in real life my emotional intelligence is exceptional, and what I do requires mostly the ability to make a negative sound positive. This lady is incapable of that, combined with her lack of credentials and she was easily passed over by me in 18 months. She has been here 15 years or so, and I'm sure it's a tough pill to swallow, but she has forced me to make sure she is removed and I will do so easily. No chance they give in. The question is will she quit before I can get permission to fire her.

I need a new desk for home. I hate my current desk.

I've decided to build myself a super simple desk. Just a piece of plywood with 2x4's for legs. Might even get some super sliders to put under the legs so I can pull it away from the wall easily. Yeah, that's a good idea. And maybe a little shelf in the back for the cables so I just have a power strip running to the wall.

This is quickly becoming not super simple.

I'm gonna have mine in less than a year. Let's talk at that point. Really.

Sure thing. They just hired a lady to a role mostly because she has a CFP, and I can tell you, having dealt with her while she was at our sister firm, she ain't nothing special. So you could easily be one of our investment or credit people. Issue is where you would live. KC office is shrinking right now, but we are everywhere.

Would it be worth it for me to start taking the CFA? I don't think I want to do anything client facing even if it means a lower salary ceiling. It just takes too much out of me to deal with people all day.

If your question is "well, it depends what you want to do" my answer is "well, I don't know what I want to do but I don't want to pigeonhole myself". I enjoy making these models I currently do and that type of analytical stuff but I don't know where that best translates or if I'm smart enough to do this for a real company.

I mean it wouldn't hurt you, but like you said, if your role has no sales component you will always be limited on what you can earn. But it's a professional designation that would open up a lot of opportunities to you.

Do they even consider people without the JD for your position, or the rung below it?

I will say though, with the job market like it is, they can and are getting JDs to be assistants, so it's not a great time to break in. I moved up crazy quick because of good timing, good sales numbers, and my Dad. My dad interviewed my current boss when she joined the company. She really respects him and it's been a huge asset to me.

moving around isn't a problem for me. we'll see what the job market looks like in a year.

you don't have to interact with clients, or do anything you don't want to do, if you are a CFA+CPA. you will die a wealthy man if you have both of those designations in your early 30s.

it sounds like I'm being made point man for this expansion thing that's happening at work. I am approaching it as though it will fold and yield nothing, but my boss is basically setting me up to get a massive raise if it works out. everyone involved is constantly stretching the truth and bullshitting so who knows.

My only concern about the CFA is I don't know if my work experience qualifies for experience cause it's not like I'm out here valuing companies or managing portfolios and I guess I could say I've passed the tests and haven't gained the right experience yet but that's a lot of money to invest in a maybe. I don't know. I just want to make more money.

Still at the hospital. Nothing really wrong...I guess they just want to monitor the baby for possible jaundice. Her last test at 5am this morning was 5.6mg/dL. For the sake of context, 60% of newborns have it to some degree. Anything over 5mg/dL is what they'd consider jaundice. When it hits 17mg/dL or so, they would put her under a lamp. Kind of annoying being stuck here though. They keep saying it's better to not have to go home and then come back, but we kind of disagree with that assessment. I'm on a recliner and my wife hasn't been able to sleep more than 20mins at a time since someone always seems to be coming into the room to run tests or ask questions. Hoping we're out of here sometime tomorrow morning.

Oh that sucks. I, unfortunately, spent way too much time in hospitals with our middle daughter and understand the desire to be anywhere but there.

Congrats though and I'm glad the wife and baby are doing well. She'll be keeping you up crying all night and interrupting your sex life before you know it.

The baby I mean.
