Atlantic City Poker Rooms

Recommended Posts

Main purpose (Save you some time if you don’t fell like reading): Seeking helpful suggestions on Atlantic City card rooms. Where to play? Poker room rates? How to go there from New York?I’ll be visiting some relatives for two weeks early January in New York. Last year I went to Foxwoods for a day and Atlantic City for three during the visit. This time around I want to plan better. Stay in NY for a couple days and bus it to AC and stay for 3-4 before going back to NY. Some advice on Atlantic City poker rooms will be greatly appreciated. I do not plan to go to Foxwoods again as the rake is insane. ($10 or $12hr at the 3-5nl game)Last year my first stop was at the Taj. Played in a tournament there and cashed. Fun but not great. I then headed to Borgata which was sooo much better. Nice room and very good games ended up playing a 29hr session there. People had lots of money to blow and the general atmosphere was great. I checked out the website and see that they have couple daily tourneys going. I definitely will go back there. My question is whether I should stay at Borgata the whole three days or check out other rooms too? Trop recently opened up a new room there. How is it? Worth going? Hotel rates for the poker players, Borgata has one. I need to play at least 8hrs a day and it costs around 70-90 a night. Any recommendations?Last year I was going to buy a bus ticket from NY to AC until I read the newspaper and saw that there are free bus rides daily from Chinatown. I decided to go that route. Problem with that is they have a certain time that you must be back or you’ll miss the bus. I told them I would stay for more than one day and they allowed me to hop on a couple days later going back to NY. Any better suggestions? (Reasonable price)Thanks in advance.

I've played at Bally's, Taj, Borgata, and Ceasars, so I can only comment on those rooms.Bally's- I like this room because I'm underaged and they've never carded me. It's a fun atmosphere, the dealers are pleasant, good at their job, and some are a blast to be around (Hector's the man). Problems are weeknights don't get much action, and I've never seen a game there bigger than 1/2nl. Also, it's the only room left in AC that lets you smoke, so that can either be a positive or a negative.Ceasars-Room is nice, lots of flatscreen tv's everwhere, many donks, and 1/2nl has a max buy in of 300. The reason I absolutely hate this room is because it's right next to a giant slot parlor, and the sounds drive me crazy. Games are juicey, but if you don't like noise, don't play here.Taj- When i played there, the highest nl stakes were 5/10nl, but there were a ton of tables of everything. Tons of donks, 300max 1/2nl game, but the drink service sucks and I found the room kinda dirty. Definately the best option in midtown AC though that I've found.Borgata- Defiantely the nicest room I've ever been too. Clean, good dealers, decent looking waitresses, and lots of soft games. My only gripes with this room are that there's always a long wait to get on a table, and the chips have some weird magnetic thing going on that makes them impossible to riffle.Hope that helps, erac

Thanks. Yes, Borg has the hottest waitresses. Fo sure.Trop is also an option for me as the room rates for poker players seem pretty reasonable.

I've never had much of a wait there even during like Fri/Sat nights, etc...though I agree about the chips.I'm thinking the gf's Xmas gift will be a stay at Borgata followed by a spa visit whilst I card. :club:

The poker rate at the Taj is $65 a night, although if you haven't played there much before you might have to do some arguing to get them to agree to give it to you. But it's a pretty good bargain. If you haven't played at the Borgata since last year, then you haven't been there since they opened the new room. It's much larger, and there's rarely a wait over 15 minutes. Also, enjoy taking the bus to AC from Port Authority - lots of fun degenerates who will ask if you want to share a cigarette at the Cheesequake rest stop in Jersey.

I posted about the hilton in another thread. GREAT comps there, and lots of money available.
Their daily tourneys are tree-mendous as well. I Ft'd 7/7 of them and at one final table some kid was showing me porn on his cellphone for most of the level before the dealer told him he had to stop. High comedy. Oh and I took a 3 way chop at one FT for 33% when a previous hand had crippled me to about 4 bets but the others decided to just chop the whole thing down the middle with me because they had somewhere else to go and didn't feel like "doing any math". :club: Great mathmagicians.
