Daniel's Blog - Was It Easier To Make A Living In Poker In The Old Days?

Great essay, and that settles it, the old guys deserve respect, even TJ Cookier.

I think one area Daniel may want to think again about is what the poker scene in Europe or the rest of the world outside in America was like in the 90's. There were poker games going along in Britain and high enough for people to make a living off (see Dave Ulliots book 'Devilfish: The Life & Times of a Poker Legend'). There were also ways to get into the poker world and indeed there were NLH and Omaha scenes enough for the likes of Devil Fish to win a WSOP bracelet in Omaha and Noel Furlong to win the 1999 WSOP main event , The Hendon Mob also came over to play WSOP events purely based on their winning from poker in the UK (for more on that aspect see 'For Richer, For Poorer: Confessions of a Player' by Victoria Coren). There are many ways to suggest that you could play poker in the 90's in the UK and Ireland and potentially go and live in Vegas to make living but at the same time why leave such a profitable scene ??
