do you have a background in drafting/architecture?

Lol nope but he's willing to train me. They do stuff for Boeing, caterpillar, and the Dept of Defense. My mom works for the company so that was my in. He hates the millennial attitude of his staff and wants adults so my mom recommended me to him.

I interviewed awhile back, last year sometime and got the job but then the company had a hiring freeze that is now lifted because they sold the company. So he is trying to get me in before the new company takes over since he doesn't know how they will work it out. I guess I'd be doing "tagging" and it's pretty easy he says.

Some lighthearted talk here plus this will make sure that I can read this again sometime as it's a good story, at least for me. If it wasnt for posting all those apartment stories I would forget almos

I debated posting this, because I might be overdoing this topic this week, but I made a sort of personal promise to myself that I am going to promote more positivity and try to never be negative or pu

Danny.... Thats a great attitude to have, and you will be amazed at the progress Owen can make with that kind of attitude and persistence on your part. On Feb 4, 2003, the diagnosis I got was that

For the podcast listeners:

Dan Carlin's Hardcore History is awesome. I've only listened to a few so far, they are 3-6 hours each.

I highly recommend the most recent one: The destroyer of Worlds. It's 6 hours long but you can listen to it at 1.5x speed and miss nothing. It's kind of a brief history of Nuclear weapons. Pretty terrifying how close we were to all out nuclear war during the Truman/Eisenhower administrations, and then again under JFK (Cuban Missile Crisis). Basically, a very specific kind of person had to be president at those times to avoid Nuclear war. Truman and JFK especially went against their own advisors and sometimes public opinion in order to avoid it. Kinda makes me terrified about what would/could happen if some serious international incident happens during Trump's presidency. The Fate of humanity could possibly be at the mercy of whoever makes the most persuasive argument among his closest advisors, or whatever his mood is that day.

Anyway, doomsday scenarios aside, the podcast is excellent, and digs deeper into events that you probably learned about in school, but maybe didn't understand completely (speaking for myself)

If you ever want to watch a movie about the Cuban missile crisis, then I strongly recommend watching "Thirteen days". I would love to know the accuracy of the movie compared to real life events. Anyway the movie is fabulous drama

So if you follow me on FB you see that Jin has started skating. He's really into it now so that makes me want to get new skates since my old pair were destroyed in a sewage backup in our old house.

I've been googling a bit but wondered if any of you had suggestions (if anything even exists). My right foot/ankle is noticeably smaller than my left when wearing skates. I don't have issues with shoes at all but skates have always been an issue. I wear a 11.5 shoe but go down to a 10 skate and that is perfect for the left but my right is still loose AF. No ankle support and when I push off to skate I lose the edge often which is frustrating as hell. I don't have the cash to get custom made skates nor do I even skate enough to justify such a cost. Is there anything that can rectify it like insoles or a special sock or something. Probably not but I thought I would ask you guys while I continue to google.

My dad always says the best part about eventually getting a good job was he could afford two pairs of shoes since his feet are way off like steves. I don't have a solution though because he never skated and for shoes just wore insoles and/or was uncomfortable.

If you're just going to skate casually, go to a used sporting goods store and buy two pairs. Shouldn't cost you more than the price of that shock doctor brace. Used skates are broken in and more comfortable anyway. If you're not going to be slamming on the brakes at full speed, you don't need good skates anyway, and you'll get a much higher quality skate used than new.

Steve, got a couple book recommendations for you (or anyone else) that I've read recently.

Dark matter by Blake Crouch - cool sci-fi/multi-verse thriller(ish). Very easy read and a true page turner. Plowed through it in 2 days.

Ready Player one by Ernest Cline - As a gamer I think you will enjoy this one. It's not exactly a literary masterpiece (writing is hunger games level at best) and it's really self indulgent with it's 80s pop culture references, but it's extremely addictive and once I got into it, I wanted to stay up all night to finish it.

Nice. Thanks! I'm just about finished with the Harry Potter series. I've been trying to figure out what to read next.

Harry Potter was one of those (seemingly) rare instances where the books were great and they made great movies and JK Rowling seems like a genuinely nice (great) person.

Flew through books 1-4. 5 was a bit slow going but not bad. Book 6 literally took me over 2 months. I hated it. Only the last 18% made me want to keep turning the page.

30% into the last book and I'm enjoying it like I did the first 4.

I'm genuinely surprised to hear that. I probably read all 7 books inside of a month. And I thought they got better as they went along. I thought book 1 was just ok, then I got into the groove and just flew through all of the books and was genuinely sad when I finished the last one.

Some other good, easy reading "Kids" books that I really enjoyed recently are: The Blackthorn key, and the Mark of the Plague by Kevin Sands (first two books in a YA fiction series). Kind of like Da Vinci code for teenagers, except way less self important and manipulative, and actually enjoyable as a result.
