OK, so we have all been guilty of using poker cliche's in our everyday lives, and it is getting worse, they are in sports articles, on the news, movies, TV programs, business meetings.This thread is to post the cliche's that bother you the most. I'll startBad Beat. Any time something doesn't go someones way now its a bad beat, most of these people that are saying this only know what it is because Norman Chad told them what it was in 2003.

i hate it when people say unreal. they also always say it at the stupidest times, like when i bet the pot on every street and turn over the flopped nuts that they called down with middle pair. "unreal". shutup and keep giving me your money and do it silently.

Maybe I wasn't completely clear, yes there are annoying cliches we here at the tables or between our poker playing buddies.I am more talking about these poker cliches being applied to everyday life, like when company is trying to get a contract and they say "Were going to have to lay our cards on the table, and push all our chips in the middle to get this done"Sh!t like that. It needs to stop.

I always find it amusing in Razz or Stud when someone flashes their losing card online after the hand... I can't figure out if they were trying to show "they weren't bluffing", or they just wanted to let me know that I was painfully ahead on every street (had em board locked, usually, in Razz).That one always puzzles me...edit: I myself have a rather annoying habit of being able to use analogies in most everyday situations that become poker-related, so I'm sure I'm an offender, based on Guapo's original parameters.

I don't mind it as much if its poker players and it fits the situation, its when these people who have played 7 hands of 5 card draw in their life, they have no idea what they are talking about, they usual mess the cliche up anyway......

The term "donkey". Seems anyone who makes the slightest mistake is one.Funny story actually. I've got a friend who thinks he's a fantastic player. He plays play money on full tilt. He told me the other night he plays the 2000 buy-in play tourneys because it "keeps the donkeys away". And of course, "I can dodge bullets baby!" Funny the first time, annoying every other.

Oh that is also a pet peeve of mine, when you are at a casnio or talking to someone and they start quoting poker players like they are SNL and all of the sudden deserve sound bites to be piped off all the time.

I guess I'm guilty as charged.One of my favorite sayings at the table is, "If that would have happened, I'd have flipped the table". Recently I find myself doing this in all aspects of life. We played this shitty basketball team the other night and almost lost, so I told a couple of my teammates, "Jesus man, if we'd have lost to that team, I'd have flipped the table." Needless to say they were pretty confused.
