Recommended Posts

You are playing PL. Live. 10-20 BlindsYou have $1425 in front of you and in Middle Position pick up AA (red).2 players have dead posted b/c they are new to the table. One in front of you one Behind you.3 players limp to you (UTG, 2 EP), including one of the dead posts. You make it $100 to go, 3 players behind you including the BB call, UTG, EP1 calls, dead post folds. 6 to the flop. 3 in front, 2 behind. $600 in the pot.Flop comes 7dTs9s.Big Blind Bets the pot $600. He had the same size stack as you.UTG player folds, EP1 calls $550 of it and is all in.Your action with 2 players to act after you. $1700 in pot, you have $1425 left.Bet more pre-flop?, I really didn't expect everyone to come with me to this flop, I had been playing well and thought I had a solid image at this table and toned down the pre flop bet hoping for action.....At this point I think its either push or fold. The board is screaming draw, but with this many ppl in the pot I'm thinking that I would have to dodge a lot of mines even if my AA is the best hand at this point.Any thoughts, advice, or sympathy would be greatly appreciated.thanks.

I think it's a fold; someone could already have trips or two pair plus you probably have straight and flush draws to deal with as well. You lead the betting pre-flop; you have a solid image so BB must have something to bet the pot when he's first to act. EP1 is short stacked but he must have at least a draw.

fold and wait for another hand. What is your read on the big stack? What's he likely to bet the pot with UTG? An aggressive protective bet doesn't say draw(unless it's str8 flush draw), it says str8(trying to fold the flush draw), 2 pair or a set(trying to blow out the str8 or flush draws). And the people behind may call-in with a flush draw if they're shortstacked. The board is too dangerous. Fold the hand. Don't be another 'cracked aces' story.

OK, when the action came to me, I basically threw up in my mouth at about the same time I threw my hand in the muck, the player acting after me called the $600, everyone else folded.3 to the turn, 1 of which is all in.Turn brought the 2hBB now checked!Late Player raised the pot putting the BB all in, LP had the table covered.BB thought and thought and finally called the all in.River was the 4cThe Later player turned over KK, The BB threw over his Q8s, and the All in player mucked his hand.KK takes the pot!WTF? I promptly left the table and called it a night.

yeh, overpair for the BB as well. OK, you could have won that one, but bets that big on that flop wouldn't normally be called with nothing. You shouldn't have called it a night. You should have played on, and taken their money.

I have to say your fold was great, given the situation. Heads up your Aces are at LEAST a 4.5-1, closer to 5-1 favorite, but that is heads up or against 2 players if you push it. Against that many people, your Aces become like every other pair, hit the set or dump them. I have to agree with the previous post that said you should have stayed at that table. The only horrible play at that table came from the person acting behind you. He/She should have put in another raise behind you preflop to push out the remaining players and more clearly define his/her hand going into the flop. If the player was willing to call with a big pocket pair and let that many people draw at his holding, he would have given those chips back to you in no time at all!
