Fold or take a stab at a bluff if it's pot-limit(and there is no str8, flush, or no-one seems to want it). If it is bet to you, fold!A2 is not to be played to chase low splits. It is played as insurance so that you can continue to improve your high holdings and occasionally three-quarter people. That is one of the key concepts to learn if you're going to be a successful omaha 8 player. Chasing low split when the low isn't even fully on the board is a major leak in many low-limit omaha players' game.

I think one of the most important thing to do in Omaha high/low is to always attempt to scoop the pot. Many times it is not profitable to continue chasing a low draw when you have no shot at the high, especially because you can get quartered, since other opponents at the table most likely have that nut low draw as well. The other day I was attempting some calculations on catching a backdoor low, and I came up with it coming in like 18% of the time. That may be completly wrong, but if you're at an extremely loose table, especially if its limit, then it may be acceptable to call a bet on the flop if you have the backdoor nut low draw and maybe some other backdoor outs to see what the turn brings. I personally wouldn't chase it with A 2 rags though because you need runner runner low that's not an Ace or a Deuce. But, if you had like A 2 3, then you have more of a shot I guess.Long story short.... A 2 rag is really weak, even if you catch two low cards on the flop. I always go by the belief that I need a good shot at the high as well because getting quartered is never a fun result.

You simply don't chase a low draw unless you have some kind of high hand or draw. There is the rare occasion of a 4 or more-person pot where everyone put in at least 3 bets preflop, and a board such as K :club: 9 :D 5 :D . If you hold A :) 2 :D 3 :D 10 :) , you probably need to see another card if you can do so cheaply. These backdoor straight and flush draws, though very unlikely, add to your hand enough to stick around. If you get lucky enough to catch something like the 4 :) , you suddenly have a powerful draw, though normally you have to fold the turn if you do not catch a helpful card.
