Zach6668 513
Soooooo... is the cheap one a total pile of shit, or is it better to just go all out?
Piddle Duck 0
I personally have always been the guy who will only where the authentic jersey that the players wear. But that is just me.
WhiteSpade 0
Soooooo... is the cheap one a total pile of shit, or is it better to just go all out?I just buy the cheaper ones, so I can get twice as many. If you get the premier's customized, make sure it's from a source that stitches and doesn't rely on glue alone. (I believe the ones from nhl.com are only glued)
pezeveng 207
and here's a link for Zach and his vague questionshilariousHockey jerseys last forever I find the cheaper ones to be better because you can wear them on March and April days when the weather warms up, as well as cooler summer nights when I go up north. I find the thicker authentic ones to be too heavy.
Belanger25 3
This is the thing, without knowing some subtle differences the chance of an average person will not be able to tell you the difference between Authentic and Replica. I own a good amount of both and it depends on what you're going for.If you're getting say a Crosby jersey then get an Authentic. He's going to be there for a while and it will look good. fryer98 30
... between the Authentic for $279 + $80 for a name/number, and the Premier for $149?It depends on how bad you feel about getting this jersey for me a few weeks after my birthday.
Zach6668 513
I doubt I'd get a Crosby. I'd probably get like a Letang or a Kennedy, or probably a Staal (since he's on my FCHL team).
Zach6668 513
I wasn't clear in the first post, but I was intending on grabbing a new jersey from NHL.com. However, some people have shown me other places to look, and of course, inspired me to maybe broaden my jersey horizons. :DSo, let's start the jersey collection. So far I have a 1999 Penguins Away Jagr 'C', and a replica 1999 home jersey, no number or name, signed by various awful players, and Alex Kovalev. My girlfriend also has the novelty pink Crosby jersey, but that doesn't count.Give me some suggestions, Penguins related. ajs510 122
Zach, I have one of each (authentic and replica). They both look identical, but the replica one feels more like stretchy plastic whereas the authentic feels...authentic. If you're just going to get something that hangs in your closet (which is what I'm doing with a lot of my prospects), go for the replicas and save the money, but if it's something you're going to wear a lot and take pride in, spend the extra cash and get the real deal. One other thing, my authentic Sabres Drury jersey (lol) is from two years ago whereas my replica Hawks Kane jersey is from last year, so I can't speak to the difference between same year sweaters. I'm planning on picking up a Gerbe authentic jersey and one of my other top Lost Cause prospects replica jersey when the season opens, so I'll know more then.
Zach6668 513
Yeah, I mean, I'm not going to be wearing the jerseys out too often. The only time I'd wear them, generally is when I watch the games on TV, I have kinda a ritual of wearing whichever Pens jersey I have. Also, I'd obv wear them to the Pens games I plan on attending.I don't think I'm suuuuper concerned about getting the authentic, but I wanted to hear what others thought. nell789 0
I bought a few jerseys a while back of some guys on my FCHL team. 2 replica and 1 authentic. I got a decent deal on them because the new RBK jerseys had just come out and these were the old style.Even though I got the authentic for the price of what you pay for a replica now, I don't think it was worth it because have them hanging on the wall and you can only tell any difference if you get up close and inspect them. In the future I'll probably get replicas if I get more of them.

Then, midway through last season I got Toews' name and number put on one of them, but he wasn't a captain then and now I have to figure out a way to get a "C" on there. WhiteSpade 0
Give me some suggestions, Penguins related. For Penguins I've got:-1992 style Lemieux -2007 RBK Premier Malkin (Home) -2007 RBK Premier Crosby (Away)And next up will probably be a Winter Classic Fluery and a Rimouski Crosby Jersey.
Zach6668 513
My initial instincts for classic jerseys:-1998 White 82 Straka-1992 Black Mario-1978 White/blue PronovostAlso, I want to get either a home or away for this season, from someone sorta under the radar (ie, not Crosby/Malkin), like a Kennedy or a Letang, and I definitely want to pick up the 3rd jersey (winter classic style) for another player

strategy 4
I had a customized replica pronger jersey made in like 2003 or 2004 from NHL.com that was actually sewn on. it was nice. the rest of them are presumably glued: flames 3rd (no name), wild away (no name), avs home (liles #26), blackhawks 3rd (arnason). my girlfriend just won this yesterday. I think I will use it in the jersey swap bet me and serge are plannin.
