  1. Anyone going this weekend? I think I will be there to play the $1500 event. I can't play during the week, since I have to work, but I'm planning on going Friday night and staying till Sunday.
  2. Played last night (screen name Tillie Mae) and had a great time. Is there a leaderboard posted somewhere?
  3. OP-- so there is absolutely no confusion: SUITS DON'T DETERMINE THE WINNER OF A HAND IN POKER. EVER. My spade royal flush and your heart royal flush will tie every time, in every game. It is true that in flop games like holdem and omaha, there can only be one possible flush on board, so this situation will never arise, but it does happen in stud games, and it's a tie. Suits matter only for the purpose of determining who has the 'bring-in bet' in stud games, and in tournaments, during the racing off of chips (some casinos, like the Borgata in AC, also use the high card, by suit, for determining
  4. I bought "Winning Low-Limit Holdem" for a friend. From what I read of it, it looked excellent. Sklansky's books are also very good, but I think they are a tougher read. I'd go with Winning Low Limit Holdem if I was going to choose just one.
  5. As far as I can tell, to be a 'semi-pro' poker player, you need to call yourself a 'semi-pro'. to be a 'pro', well, then you need to quit your day job.Seriously, though, it's just a name. I've seen lots of people playing in casinos who call themselves 'pro poker players' just because they don't have any other job, and it seems like everyone who has ever had a winning year calls themselves a 'semi-pro'. In the end, I don't really think it counts for much.
  6. Going to be out there beginning Sunday the 24th. Hope to see some of you there
  7. Sigh. out in 195th. Top 80 to get paid...
  8. Good fold I think. With no read, you need to assume you're beat there.
  9. 8150 at second break. Blinds will be 150-300 when we resume. 326 people remain, so I still have a lot of playing to do.
  10. this is a nutty tourney. I've had a-k twice, and jacks once already, haven't one a hand-- people are winning w/ a-4 off. raises are ridiculously large relative to blinds. guess i need to just sit tight for a bit. still have plenty of chips (1780 w/ blinds at 10-20)
  11. Anyone else playing today at 5pm. I'm in, screen name sillyputty. GL if you're playing.
  12. Don't be haters. I was going to congratulate Daniel on finally associating himself with a worthy company, but instead, I need to spend my time defending his honor. Shame shame shame
